THE JACKA Ft. FREEWAY - "Dunya"

Bay Area legend and Mobb Fingaz emcee tragically was shot and killed this Wednesday night, and left a vacuum in the Bay Area scene that will take a long time to recoverer from. I was lucky enough to see him perform live a couple of years ago and it was a strong concet. "Dunya", the official video, probably the last music video approved by The Jacka before his tragic passing, comes from his full-length collaboration with Freeway - "Hiway Robbery". Don't sleep and be sure to cop the LP!

Jakk Frost, Malik B, Freeway and Tana Da Beast's bumping beard anthem "Beards R Us" is definitely on point. Originally released in late 2012, the the posse cut now gets an interesting video loaded wih cameos, recorded at this year's Roots Picnic. I really need a Malik B album this year for real for real! Greg Porn Ft. Freeway - "Dot"

Greg Porn is a Philly emcee who's closely affiliated who's closely affiliated with The Legendary Roots crew in more than one way. He first appeared with the crew on the 2005 compilation "NBA 2K6: The Tracks" where Porn joined forces with Black Thought, Dice Raw, and so forth. Together with these two, Greg Porn would later appear on a majority of the next-coming The Roots albums and became an official member of The Money Making Jam Boys collective; an extraordinary super group who's 18-track mixtape "The Prestige" were a great way for Black Thought and his friends to really shine over both sampled and live music. The sound quality and production is especially nice, so you can bet I would love to see a limied vinyl release of the "street abum".

But enough about the past, "Dot", is the first single from Greg Porn's long-time in the making official debut album "Amerikan Junkie". The rowdy Philly song sounds like it could be a good indication of what to expect from the full-length, which is out on Soulspazm on October 1. The single also feature fellow Philly veteran Freeway who add some much needed additional dopeness to the track!

[EP] Freeway - "Black Santa"

Philadelphia Freeway is back, beard and all, with a late Christmas present for all us hip-hop junkies. Called "Black Santa", this is the third release from Free in a very short time which luckily doesn't affect the quality of the music. The nine track mixtape is presented and mixed by DJ Benja Styles. and features production and cameos from Statik Selektah (check out his contribution which opens up the album, truly unbelivable shit), Gillie Da Kid, the Jake One produced Roc Family reuion cut, Tek, and more. Loads of well crafted, hilarious rhymes and a flow as great as ever, with soul dripping beats, vocal sample loops, and cracking drums. Make sure to peep this to get in the spirits of this Black Christmas.

Jakk Frost / Smif-N-Wessun / Reef / Malik B / Freeway

North Philly Hustlers' Jakk Frost and Freeway have been making music for quite some time now, guest apperances, mixtapes, you name it, and the chemistry has always been there. Word is that they will, eventually, release an actual album together in a near future. And maybe we don't have to wait much longer now; The reason? Well, the first single just hit the waves, "Six Degrees of Separation" - a dope posse cut, where the duo is joined by a gag of talented emcees like Smif-N-Wessun, Reed The Lost Cauze and even Malik B (!). Don't know who produced it or where it eventually will end up but it's a cool cut nontheless.
