Back in 2004, a couple of years back J Dilla released his final solo album of the same name, underrated Detroit duo Lawless Element dropped the knocking 12" single "The Shining". As February 7 marks the anniversary of Dilla's untimely passing Magnif, one half of the duo, lets loose of "The Shining Part II" set over a thumping previously unreleased Jay Dee banger. Unlike much of the posthumous music that has been released since 2006 this one actually really works well, so be sure to TURN IT UP!!

MAGNIF x AYATOLLAH - "Comin' Up"
I first came across Detroit duo Lawless Element when I stumbled across their Jay Dee produced 12" single "The Shining" which also featured a sick Phat Kat assisted cut on the flip. Since then I've been keeping an eye open for the works of producer/emcee Magnif and rapper JH-Allday (formerly known as Griot). Soon after they released their heavily slept-on full-lengther "Soundvisions", which featured beats by Dilla, Young RJ, Madlib and Magnif as well as guest spots from Dilla, Phat Kat, Big Tone, Melanie Ruthford and more. If you like Detroit hip-hop and still haven't heard this one, be sure to hunt it down for yourself.
After some pushbacks "Soundvisions" were finally released in late 2005, and was a commercial flop. However, last year the duo reunited and released the free EP "Detroit Badboys". Now Magnif is hooking up with no other than Elementality's legendary producer Ayatollah for a full-length LP to be called "Tha Real" coming later this year. Sounding good for real, so watch up1

MAGNIF - "U Kno"
Magnif is the producer/emcee of the very underrated Detroit duo Lawless Element who's one and only debut "Soundvisions" in 2006 was a very overlooked release despite sporting guest production and cameos from the likes of Jay Dee, Madlib, Young RJ, and Phat Kat. Since then, the group seemed to dissapear entirely from the scene, and as a big fan of their debut album I'm happy to announce that it seems that Lawless Element is back in full effect (though they seem to have changed their name to Lawless Gang). Late last year we got the five track Magnif produced EP "Detroit Badboys". Now Magnif is coming through with a brand new single of dopeness entitled "U Know" which features the Lawless member both rhyming and producing. Check it out below and stay tuned for more news as this is the first single from an upcoming EP called "MagnifiAM" and even more excitingly a full-length debut album entirelty produced by genius producer Ayatollah.
