MEYHEM LAUREN & BUCKWILD - "100 MPH" (Ft. Action Bronson)

Hell yeah, this one deserves a video like hell. The opening track to Meyhem Lauren and Buckwild's absolutely slamming joint LP "Silk Pyramids" which made my top 10 of last years best album (the full list will be published tomorrow with all reviews). Of course also features Action Bronson, and an absolute monster performance from both Buckwild and Meyhem who properly sets the tone for the outstanding LP.

MEYHEM / BUCKWILD - "Freestyle 1" / "Freestyle 2"

You already know that Meyhem Lauren is one of my favorite emcees out of the younger generation and that Buckwild is one of my all-time favorite producers, so it came as no suprise that their collaborative effort "Silk Pyramids" represent some of the best work both artists has put in in some time. The album which is released through Chopped Herring Records, is available in a few different versions - you got the ordinary CD and digital release which features the 13 tracks that have been made available for streaming on various sites. You got the high priced 2xLP set which omits "I Need It All", "Q.U. Cartilage", and last but not least you got the (order the vinyl set @ Chopped Herring while they last and you have a lot more money than me.

Instead of the aforementioend tracks on the CD the vinyl features the joints "French 75" and "Rep The Streets" (and possibly "Friendship is Priceless"). The Extras EP includes instrumentals and accapellas of these joints, but also "Q.U. Cartilage" (undoubtedly one of my favorites from the album), and the Sonnie Carson guested "ODA" in addition to two untitled freestyles. These two freestyles have been unleashed to the net by Buckwild himself via his Audiomack account (along with "Q.U. Cartilage"). The illest of these sounds like Meyhem going crazy over what I think is an original beat while the other is a freestyle over Buck's classic '93-'94 beat for "Ozone" from OC's "Word...Life". Enjoy!

[Album] MEYHEM LAUREN / BUCKWILD - "Silk Pyramids"

Meyhem Lauren carries on the tradition of well-crafted street lyricism from Queens, NY on his finest project to date, "Silk Pyramids", entirely produced by fellow New Yorker and hip-hop veteran Buckwild. I've been eagerly anticipating this release and now when it finally is here I can only say that it doesn't dissapoint one bit - in fact, it's probably even better than I had dared hope for with both turning in A+ performances. Everything is just RIGHT about this album, making it one of the few must-haves of 2014 so far... Order your copy @ UGHH (US) or HHV (EU) and PLAY THIS SHIT LOUD!!!!!

MEYHEM LAUREN & BUCKWILD - 20 Minutes Sampler

Last year was kind of slow on the D.I.T.C. releases (save for "Mugshot Music"'s 2xLP release for us EU heads). In 2014 this amazing crew is back at it, full force - kicking things off with the Ray West/OC collaboration "Ray's Cafe", followed by "D.I.T.C. Remix Project" (featuring excellent remixes from Lord Finesse, Diamond D, Buckwild, Showbiz, Ogee and more) at the beginning of this month, and this Tuesday saw the release of another very well-crafted album in the form of Diamond D's collaboration with BIGREC in "Doomsday". Next in line is another crazy album from the camp, filled with that raw New York boom bap sound we all love; the fully Buckwild produced album for the always sick Queens' emcee Meyhem Lauren.

"Silk Pyramids" is officially released on May 27 via Chopped Herring Records in a plethora of different versions. Beside the main release on CD, the label is also releasing a very limited 2xLP run of 500 copies, an Extra EP featuring three extra joints, a couple of freestyles and a few instrumentals. Add to this that there's also a white label 12" featuring six accapellas of songs appearing on the album. While everything beside the CD is quite pricey if you're not in the States, this is a must have and to show how much faith Buckwild, Meyhem and Chopped Herring have in this project the label have released a 20 minutes sampler on YouTube featuring tracks from both the regular album and the "Limited Extra EP" and it's sounding fucking BRILLIANT... Then of course we have already heard three singles in full high quality already ("Q.U. Hertilage", "Street Hop", "Silk Shirts & Yellow Gold"). To read more about what's on all of this different releases and pre-order your copy of choice head over to Chopped Herring Records.

MEYHEM LAUREN & BUCKWILD - "Q.U. CARTILAGE"

Without a doubt Meyhem Lauren's upcoming Buckwild produced album ("Silk Pyramids") is at the very least amongt the top three most anticipated albums of 2014. Not only have every single so far reminded me why I fell in love with hip-hop in the first place within its first 30 seconds, but both gentlemen's back catalouge embodies everything that is still fresh and interesting about the genre. Since I posted the powerful "Street Hop" only yesterday (granted, a bit late but still) I was suprised to find yet another single from the album to band my head to today. "Q.U. Cartilage" is nothing short of brilliant and boosts my hopes for the album even more, 'nuff said...

MEYHEM LAUREN & BUCKWILD - "Street Hop"

As we are getting closer to what should unquestionably be one of the best albums of the year - Buckwild and Meyhem Lauren's "Silk Pyramids". Following the first single "Silk Shirts & Yellow Gold", the duo unleashes the second single from the project and it's just as banging, once again proving that Meyhem and Buck is a power team to be counted with. "Street Hop" also features guest verses from Troy Ave and Retchy. DITC + The Outdoorsmen in the house!

[Upcoming] BUCKWILD & MEYHEM LAUREN - "Silk Pyramids"

While we're banging recent stand-out projects like L'Orange's "The Orchid Garden", Pharoahe Monch's "PSTD", Mobb Deep's "The Infamous Mobb Deep" double CD and "Beats Per Minute" by Audessey & A Cat Called Fritz, another super exciting project has just been announced for a late spring release. The album in question is called "Silk Pyramids" and is a collaboration between Meyhem Lauren and veteran producer Buckwild. Now, Meyhem Lauren is by far one of the most interesting and talented emcees to emerge during the last few years, and if you're an avid reader of this blog you of course know just how much I love the D.I.T.C. crew and everything they are involved in (even going as far as always supporting them as my record collection includes every single solo release from each member as well as the group efforts, compilations, and a bunch of 12":s) so at least on paper this sounds like it could easily be one of the hottest albums of the year - and right now also my most anticipated, along with fellow Diggin' master producer Diamond D's two upcoming albums ("The Diam Piece" and the BIGREC collaboration) and Wu-Tang Clan's "A Better Tomorrow".

As of now, no tracklist has yet been unveiled but at leat the artowrk has been just made available, a long with a list of the featured artists to appear on the project, and a release date so you know this is 1005 Llegitofficial. The guests include the usual suspects you'd expect to find on a Meyha"em album - Troy Ave, Acton Bronson, Thirstin Howl III, AG Da Coroner, RetcH - while being entirely produced by Buckwild; making it his second official release under his own name, following the exccellent Celph Titled collaboration back in 2010 (not counting his EP:s and the "Diggin' in the Crates" 2xCD compilation). The set date as of now is May 27, so stay tuned for more info, singles, and so on which of course will be updated right away here @ The Lost Tapes. Spotted @ 2DopeBoyz so peace to them!

RELATED: In related news, some recent Buckwild heat that you might or might not have missed, but since I forgot to post it when it first dropped a week ago I'm taking that back. I'm talking about the talented underground spitter Sonnie Carson who's previous street album "Flight #2012" featured three collaborations with Buckwild; now hsi new street album/mixtape "Most Likely to Succeed"  which just dropped featiues no less than the skilled Carson going IN over SIX fime Buck beats. The mixtape is hosted by the great DJ Cannoon, Other producers and guests include Best Kept Secret, Freeway, Heatmakerz, DR Period and rhymers Srtyles P, Latif, Ransom and a few others that I have no clue who they are. Anyway, the Buckwild beats are terrific (as are many of the other tracks) and shows on a great chemistry between the emcee/producer which I strongly recommend to check out ASAP. Let me know you think. Below is a link to the entire mixxtape thanks to the good folks @ DatPiff; below i'm only listing the Buckwild joints since this is a post on him, but the link contians the entire tape for both streaming and free download. So download, and TURN IT UP!!

02. "Another Day, Another Dollar" (Ft. Latief)
05. "Never Ran, Never Will" (Ft. Styles P)
06. "Cipher" (Ft. Ransom, Bravo, and Paul Cain)
07. "Brooklyn" (Ft. Fraz)
13. "Upper Middle Class" (Ft. Avery Storm)

OBX Ft. Meyhem Lauren - "Twice A Villain"

A couple of weeks ago I was for the first time introduced to the music of Texas artist OBX with the release of the two first singles "Make It" / "No Love" from his forthcoming album "The Villain". One of those tracks featured a heavy collaboration with Fashawn, and in my post I wrote to also look forward to apperances from Meyhem Lauren and Frank Dukes. For "Twice a Villian" we now actually get to hear that Meyhem cameo who as always an interesting verse next to OBX. The track is produced by Kuse, and the joint is also available for free download below..

[EP/Mini LP] AG DA CORONER - "Crushed Grapes"

Brooklyn to Queens representative AG Da Coroner clearly has no intentions of letting the dope music that he's been supplying us with for the last two years. His latest addition to an already fat catalouge is the free project "Crushed Grapes", entirely produced by ATG who I have praised several times here on The Lost Tapes. The latter is progressively evolving his own hard soul based sound, filled with grinding organs, bluesy basslines and boom bap-type drums which is a perfect match for AG's rough edged voice and intense street themed lyrics. Add to that guest verses from Meyhem Lauren, M.Reck and a posse cut with Nutso, Lord Nez (in addition to appearing on two other cuts), Termanology, Realm Reality, and Spit Gemz and this is a straight up and down crazy release that will work well in holding us over until Da Coroner's official album drops.

Meyhem Lauren Ft. AG Da Coroner & Action Bronson - "Drug Lords"

Three of the flyest emcees to emerge on the scene during the last few years come together for the video shoot of "Drug Lords". You should recognize the song from Meyhem Lauren's "Respect The Fly Shit" that dropped as a free download a while back. Harry Fraud on the beat, sure sounds complete...

[EP] ALCHEMIST x SSUR

Similiar to the "Yacht Rock" EP last year, Alchemist has just released a 3-track EP in celebration of the release of his collaboration with SSUR snapbacks. All three tracks boosts powerful production and features a shitload of dope emcees, including Evidence, Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Blu, Meyhem Lauren, and Despot. Check out all three tracks below, or click here.

PF Cuttin & Labba - "World Famous" (Ft. Sean Price & Meyhem Lauren)

Last week, I posted the audio to this knocking cut of PF Cuttin' & Labba's collaboartive EP, "Blunts, Bongs, Bitches" which is available through iTunes now. I'm always hyped to see PF Cuttin's name in production credits and if this single is any indiciation of what to expect from the 9 song record, this will be pretty damn amazing. Labba, Sean Price and Meyhem Lauren makes for a pretty damn impressive posse cut too.

Labba/PF Cuttin' Ft. Sean Price & Meyhem Lauren

I've had my eyes on producer/DJ PF Cuttin' for quite some time now, and I have yet to hear anything dissapointing from him. Rhymer Labba has turned to the expertis for PF for the upcoming project "Blunts, Bongs, Bitches" which hopefully should be out soon. The first single, "World Famous" features a sick line-up of Action Bronson, Cortez, and Ike Eye. Click here if you only see a blank screen below.

Meyhem Lauren - "Mandated Participants"

Queens' native Meyhem Lauren doesn't seem to slow down, from countless guest verses, to free mixtapes and his 2xCD debut "Self-Induced Illness", this cat definitely one of the more interesting emcees around at the moment. What we do need is a proper album from him rather soon; if he get a good executive and some amazing producers I stilll believe he got a classic in him. Please, bring it on!

Lauren's new video is called "Mandated Participants" and is the first visuals from the emcee's latest free album "Mandatory Brunch Meetings". The seventeen tracks project features production by J-Love, ATG, Harry Fraud, Harry Fraud, DJ U-Neek, and more. Grab it below...

Double Dose of HARRY FRAUD

There's not many new school producers that manages to impress me these days; but one definite exception is Brooklyn's Harry Fraud. Together with Tommy Maas, he's the producer of one of this year's hottest free albums; Meyhem Lauren's "Respect The Fly Shit". The LP's been out for a while now but it kept slipping my mind, so I'm using this opportunity to bring it out for anyone who might still be asleep.

At the same time, I'm using this post to hit y'all up with another Harry Fraud produced free project that just hit the net. "Cigarrette Boats" is a 5-track EP by Curren$y, completely produced by Fraud. Not as crazy as the Meyhem feast above, but still worth a listen. Includes cameos from Styles P and Smoke DZA.

Meyhem Lauren - "Peruvian Desert"

Meyhem Lauren drops another serious heater from his upcoming EP/mixtape, "Respect the Fly Shit". "Peruvian Desert" features not only a hot verse by Meyhem, but also sees Roc Marciano and Action Bronson getting busy on the mic, over what might very well be a Harry Fraud beat. This is the second joint we've heard from the Extended Play so far, following the equally dope "Special Effects".

The entire "Respect The Fly Shit" was recorded completely in 24 hours at a hotel room during this year's SXSW Festival, and sees Meyhem gathering a host of dope emcees to join him in the session. The marathon session features Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Heems of Das Racist, AG Da Coroner, Despot and for some very strange reason even Riff Raff; production will be completely hanled by Harry Fraud and Tommy Mas. Sounding good so far for sure... No release date yet, but since the project is wrapped and completed, it should drop sooner rather than later so stay tuned. Spotted @ 2DopeBoyz.

Meyhem Lauren - "Special Effects"

"Respect the Fly Shit" is the title of the next (free) offering from Queens' microphone master Meyhem Lauren. Hopefully, we'll be able to hear the whole project soon enough but til' then, we can now hear "Special Effects", a booming cut featuring Action Bronson and Heem of Das Racist. The joint is produced by Harry Fraud, who most of the times got some heat in his backpocket, including "Bars & Hook"; the track he recently did for Awkword, Sean Price and Kid Daytona.

Meyhem Lauren & Buckwild LP coming

Followers of underground hardcore New York hip-hop is definitely well familiar with Queens spitter Meyhem Lauren by now. Through his many collaborations with J-Love and his crew The Outdoorsmen as well as his ill 2xCD debut album "Self Induced Illness" he has rightfully built a strong following. It seems that Meyhem has no plans of slowing things down for 2012 as he's preparing several new projects for the year as revealed in this great interview @ HipHopGame which I suggest y'all head over and read right away.

The most interesting part of the conversation was the revelation that Meyhem has recently begun recording a full-length album with legendary beatsmith Buckwild. Between this album, OC & Apollo Brown's upcoming joint, the promised new Show & AG LP and all the Lord Finesse projects on Slice-Of-Spice Records this will likely be a fantastic year for the D.I.T.C. crew. Check out the quotes from the Meyhem interview below. Shouts to Meta4 for sharing the information.

You’re working on an album with Buckwild now. How’s that coming?
"It’s in the real early stages. It’s dope. It’s what you’d expect. It’s real hip-hop, classic New York sound with the beats and rhymes. It’s coming along well."

How did the album even come about?
"That actually came about through Dante, Dante Ross. Dante was actually managing me for a couple of months and he’s like family to me. I would come through and I would rock shows and Dante would ask me about my management situation so he was managing me and one of the first things he told me was that he was close friends with Buckwild and he thought I was dope. I grew up on Buckwild so for me to hear that was dope! I didn’t even know Buckwild knew who I was. Me and him made everything official with him managing me and Bronson. He wanted to set it up with me and Buck and just do it. That’s how it started."

Are you recording everything together or sending files back and forth?
"Well, we started. He sent me one beat through email and I wrote something crazy to that. But we’re basically doing it the old school way, going to the lab together, writing joints, really doing this together. It’s not just like he’s emailing me a bunch of beats. We’re doing it in the flesh. That’s how it’s going down."

Will we hear this in 2012?
"Early. That’s the first thing I plan on dropping, early this year. Hopefully in the next two or three months, it should be wrapped."

Are you working on a solo album?
"The Buckwild project, that kind of came out of the blue with Dante. But I was already working on an album called Every Day is Thanksgiving. I’ve been working on that for awhile and that’s gonna be crazy. I got some of J-Love’s best production ever and it’s featuring Large Pro and Ayatollah. Just Blaze got me on something for that project. Me and Just have been really cool for a long time. We’ve been building for when the time is right for him to help me out with something. Earlier I didn’t even want to bother him with something but with this project, he’s got me. He’s been a man of his word since I’ve known him so you can definitely expect a Just Blaze joint on that album. It’s gonna be really, really, really crazy. I’m not gonna go in too much on the features. It’s just gonna be me and a couple members from the fam. But that should be coming out at the end of the year. Look for the Buckwild project relatively soon and then I’m gonna try and end the year with this Every Day is Thanksgiving LP."

Gab Gotcha / Shaz Illyork / Meyhem Lauren

Crazy new tune called "Purple #7" from Gab Gotcha featuring Meyhem Lauren and Shaz Illyork; representing Queens to the fullest. The song is produced by someone who goes by the name of The Amazing Sick Beatz, and if these is a good representation of this producer's sound then I think he picked a pretty damn fitting alias for himself! Gab Gotcha is currently signed to the Wu Music Group label and released his full-length LP, "Timeless" last year.

Blaq Poet & Meyhem Lauren - "Hood Talk"

The Screwball front-man continues to bless us with that grimy shit as he's soon about to unleash a new remix EP entitled "QB Slasher". The EP features new versions of a gang of choice cuts from his latest album, "Blaq Poet Society", which was released earlier this year on Brutal Music. Besides four new remixes with cameos from Meyhem Lauren, Roc Marciano, Reef Tha Lost Cause, Wais P and Blacastan, a brand new song called "Freezerz" featuring Big Noyd and Bloodsport is included. The remix of "Hood Talk" is definitely a vintage QB banger, and Poet and Meyhem sounds iLL together. September 6 is the date.
