[Video] NAMETAG - "Reward"

Detroit emcee NameTag breaks free for his main producer Nameless on his recent EP "The Tag Alexander EP". Perhaps the illest joint on the entire projet, "Reward", now gets the visual treatmeant; a soulful and inspirational song that is further proof that The D is now the illest hip-hop city, next to NYC of course.

[EP] NAMETAG - "The Tag Alexander EP"

Detroit emcee NameTag first made his presence known on an official recording on the "Dirty District" projects, which recently was followed by a dope collaborative album with fellow Detroiter and producer Nameless. On his latest release, "The Tag Alexander EP" he is keeping his rhyming style while going for underground productions from the likes of DJ DDT,  A Wil. Trax, Black Bethoveen (also exec.) and Jr Swiftz. The result isn't as good as the Nameless LP, but it's still a worthwhile listen. Check it out below and you can also order the CD from here.

NAMETAG x NAMELESS - "Reaction Remix"

Producer/MC team Nametag & Nameless have quickly risen to one of the foremost flagbearers of Detroit hip-hop, and throughout 2013 they have steadily slugged out banger upon banger - including the LP "For Namesake". For their latest single, the duo has touched up the album track "Reaction" (featuring Miz Korona) into one of their hottest tracks yet.

NAMETAG / NAMELESS - "BLAOW!! Remix"

Detroit MC/producer duo Nametatag + Nameless have been making some seriously dope noise this year with their first, and self-titled, full-length together. While the album has gained quite positive reviews from hip-hop journalists and fans alike, the guys makes sure to continue the success with an upcoming project called "Redo". The 20-track set is a full remix album of their recent project, that will drop as a digital release, also put out by Brick Records. For an early taste of what to expect to come, the guys have unleashed the first single which comes in the form of the "C.R.E.A.M." homage remix to "BLAOW!!" - I can dig it!

[Video] Nametag + Nameless - "The Teacher"

One of the finest albums of the year came from Detroit duo Nametag + Nameless who dropped their "For Namesake" a short time back. One especially fine cut from the LP is "The Teacher" which is a great example of the fine chemistry between emcee Nametag and beat maestro Nameless, though it's a more polished sound than on the majority of the record. Order the Brick Records CD @ UGHH!

[VIDEO] Nametag - "Hookless"

While I love the CA hip-hop scene, my two personal favorite areas for hip-hop music is, of course, NYC followed by Detroit. The city has a unique sound, had one of the top producers to ever have lived, producers and instrumentalists like Karriem Riggins, Wajeed, Black Milk, Taara'ch, and many more; not to mention acts like SV, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Eminem (at least his early records; and also D12's first LP), Royce Da 5'9 and D-Elite, 5 Ela and early Proof material, Que D, Frank-N-Dank, Fat Ray, and many more. One name that keeps popping up now and then is Nametag, an emcee I first heard on Black Milk's early album "Sound Of The City", "Popular Demand" and "Calitroit"; and later appeared on both installments in "Dirty District". Apparantly, he's actually Black Milk's first cousin, and has released a few EP:s and the album "The Name is Tag" which caught a lot of positive reviews from the hip-hop press.

On April 16, he's planning to release his sophmore album titled "For Namesake". The album will feature a mix of popular and fresh names from the "D", such as Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, Miz Corona, Mahd, and Jashua Smith. The first viddeo is now available for your pleasure, "Hookless", which confirms Nametag as one of the fastest rising star of the "D". If you want the song in downloadable MP3, click here.

Nametag x Nameless -"Watcha Want"

NameTag is an emcee from Detroit, MI that I bet a lot of people are sleeping on. I first heard him on Black Milk's debut "Sound Of The City" and since then he has appeared on a slew of Milk releases. The kid definitely got skills as proven by the Nameless produced single "Watcha Want" which will appear on the rapper/producer duo's album "For Namesake" which is distributed by Brick Records on April 16.
