Common / Sean Touré - "6th Sense Remix"

Baltimore producer Sean-Touré are back with another one of his trademark reimagination of some of hip-hop's most classic records. Here he takes on Common's "6th Sense" featuring Bilal and does a great job as always. Adding an imaginative piano loop and pounding drums, the real excellence comes once Toure adds the dramatic strings underneath the classic Com' Sense verses. This track continues producer Sean Touré's collaboration with Oakland film editor Todd "Big La" Kelly.

This is another installment in the ongoing "The Sean-Touré Remix Video Project" which has given us a brand new remix video from the two on a regular basis. From what I understand all of these remixes (and maybe a few more) will be released on October 29. These remixes are really something, but after these two remix albums I hope Touré goes back to making original music as that was the way that first made me take notice of him. Check out the previous remixes @ Kelley's Vimeo and stay tuned for the full release which you'll see hear for sure!

[Video] SUBSTANTIAL - "See Hear" [Sean-Touré RMX]

A couple of years back I started posting music by Sean-Touré, who was something as rare as a young producer that really impresssed me. Last week I posted his free remix album "Sean Touré: The Remix Project". Now the Baltimore artist hooks up with the very talented rhyme artist Substantial for a remix of his "See Hear". The version makes a good job at capturing both artists respective uniqueness, and even has an accompanying video (just like on his recent takes on "Nas is Like""Still D.R.E." and Michael's "Rock With You"). All three tracks will appear on the follow up to Toure's remix album linked above though this will be handled slightly different; Labeled as Sean-Touré's video remix project, it seems that the concept is that Touré will release videos for each of the remixes on the Project. However that may be, it drops on October 29 and beside the four remixes linked here, expect new takes on music by J Dilla, Jill Scott, and Talib Kweli to name a few.

"The SEAN TOURE Remix Project"

Despite not really having heard all that much from Baltimore producer/MC Sean Touré, I loved pretty much everything I've heard from the man since I first came across him in 2011. Since I've been trying to follow his career as well as possible, it came as little of a suprise to find out that this super talented cat actually released a free 21-track album of Toure remixes of classics by Sean Price, Common, Bilal, 50 Cent, The Roots, Pete & CL, Slum Village, and even Michael Jackson way back in 2010. Touré transforms these often hardcore cuts intro brilliant excursions into soul and jazz full of horns, deep bass lines, piano licks and excellent drum programming.

At the moment Touré is preparing "Volume 2" of the remix project which will include new takes on music by Jill Scott, nas, Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, J Dilla, Michael Jackson. The thought is that a lot of music videos directed by Todd Kelley will be released as singles up until the release of the new remix LP; the latest being Dr. Dre's "Still D.R.E.". You can watch all videos that's been released so far @ Todd Kelley's Vimeo page  To support Touré for all this great, free music, make sure to pick up a copy of his official solo album, the critically acclaimed "Sound Channeler: The Invisible Man" @ UGHH.

"NAS is Like" [Sean-Touré Remix]

There were only about a week ago that I wondered what happened to the immensely talented, soulful producer Sean-Touré out of Maryland. In late 2011, I posted several singles from the man that really had me going ("In The Heat of the Night", "A Day in the Life", etc.) but after that he kind of dissappeared from the public eye.... Or I just didn't look hard enough!

Now he's back with a brilliant, soul grooving revisioning of Nas' classic "NaS is Like"; I'm usually under the impression that you shouldn't fuck with the classic but Touré's version here is totally original, fits perfectly with NaS lyrics without in any way diluting the original. Please, Touré give us a full-length project ASAP!

New Sean-Touré single

After feeling his last joint, "A Day in the Life", I was eager to check out the new single from the up-n-coming Baltimore native producer/MC. Once again, Sean Touré impresses me with his evident skills, these tracks got a great sense of that vintage boom bap that many of us crave. At the same time he's definitely keeping it fresh and bringing some originality to the game, I hope he keeps it up! "The Soundchanneler, The Invisible Man", his first real official album, is set to drop sometime this month. If you want to support already now, you can cop the two tracks plus instrumentals @ iTunes. Otherwise, feel free to grab them below anyway.

A - "In The Heat Of The Night" (Ft. yU)
B - "I.M.A.G.E." (Ft. Substanial, Ms. Stress & Marc Evans)

VIDEO: Sean Touré Ft. Kev Brown & AB Rock

The video above just dropped in my inbox and I'm feeling this joint; nice performances and real smooth production by Baltimore son Sean Touré. The song, which is called "A Day in the Life", is lifted from his forthcoming solo debut "Soundchanneler, The Invisible Man" which will see release in October this year. I believe this is my first time hearing this guy, and if it wasn't for Kev Brown's involvement I might very well have overlooked it, but I just put him on my checklist.
