[Video] VON PEA - "So East Coast"

Von Pea, the ill-spitting Tanya Morgan member, is hooking up with equally sick production team The Other Guys for a joint project this year. The single "So East Coast" sounds real promising, so get ready for "To: You" which hit stores on November 25.

I've been following the talented DMV production duo The Other Guys for quite some time now, and Brooklyn's Tanya Morgan has been interesting to me for quite some time as well. "Blow Your Mind" is a banging collaboration between the two and is the lead single from The Other Guys upcoming debut retail album "Seeds Of Ambition". The Guys has signed to HiPNOTT Records, who is really getting together a slamming roster, and the album will be released on July 15 via the label. [Album] P.So The Earth Tone King - "Gateway to Greatness / "Constellations"

HiPNOTT Records returns with another souulful project called "Gateway to Greatness" / "Constellations" which is a reissue of P.So's 2013 album; taking 12 of the artists favorites from "Gateway to Greatness", four completely new cuts and three exclusive remixes which forms the "Constellation" part of the project. P.So's moniker The Earth Tone King is really making his sound justice as he's aiming for a real earthy, atmospheric vibe that's heavy on the bottom. The album takes a stamp in dark jazz, soul, indie rock and gritty hip-hop, with P.So aiming to create something fresh lyrical and different - his mission with the project is to encompass music, creating a cinematic journey that plays out like a graphic novel and will endure the test of time. Pretty big words, and on my first listen I wasn't that impressed but more and more the set is starting to grow on me. Strong writing, ill guests (8thW1, Homeboy Sandman, Outasight), impressive live instrumentation over funky beats (P.So himself, 2 Hungry Bros., The Other Guys, etc.). You can stream the album below via Bandcamp or cop the CD from UGHH or Fat Beats. Give this one a chance, an early favorite of mine is the 8hW1 collaboration.

The Other Guys have been getting better with each release which is saying a lot considering that even their digital debut was a pretty tight release. After a couple of mixtapes, EP:s and singles, the Other Guys hooks up with the always impressive NYC duo Tanya Mogan which consists of emcees Donwill and Von Pea (who also produce). "Seeds of Ambition" drops on July 15 via HiPNOTT Records.
