Originally recorded in 1997, "Beat Diggin'" is the legendary documentary that follows some of New York's most prolific beataholics through their daily lifes as crate digging sample-based producers. We get to follow living legends like the D.I.T.C. crew, Godfather Don, Da Beatminerz, and more, as they shop for records, make beats in the studio, and talk samples. This is a great authentic piece of New York's hip-hop culture in the '90s, featuring additional exclusive music by Ras Beats.
This newly remastered DVD, released by Crate Escape Records with Busy Body Films, includes the original '98 documentary (22 minutes), the 2003 re-eit (33 minutes) but also features two exclusive bonus features in the form of two "for the first time ever" on DVD: the 2009's documentary "Beats, Rhymes & Videotapes" (featuring interviews and live footage of artists such as Gang Starr, Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Boot Camp Clik, Artifacts, Stretch & Bobbito and more) as well as the 53 minute long 2003 documentary "Who's Next?" that take a look at New York's underground scene of up-an-coming artists including Rise, Ge-Ology, J-Live, Juggakots, J-Zone, Sub-Con, and more. The total running time of the DVD with all its contents are 2 h and 17 min, and is an obvious hip-hop treat.
