DILLA's "Rebirth Of Detroit" Out Now!

The tragic loss of James Yancey is still felt amongst music lovers around the world, and the craving for any "new" Dilla material is constantly present. Fortunately, the legendary Detroit producer not only released loads of music while he was still in the physical; he also left behind stacks, and stacks of beat tapes featuring all kinds of styles and sounds. In 2009, Pete Rock and Ma Dukes dug into the archives and brought us "Jay Stay Paid", an amazing project in every regard. Today, a similiar, yet different posthumous LP hit stores, titled "Rebirth Of Detroit". Unlike "J.S.P.", this one features guest vocalists from the "D" on each joint; bringing out brand new verses over old, often unheard Jay Dee beats.

With guests ranging from earliest collaborators Amp Fiddler and Phat Kat, to younger talents who never actually worked with Dilla, the album plays out like a Detroit hip-hop compilation. And in that regard, it is very well put together, as the 21 beats used here, would fall in the category of wht I would like to call Jay Dee's "Detroit beats". That is raw and minimalistic, thumping tracks that carries a clear influence of Motown's influential House scene, and was heard on Dilla's work wih hometown friends like Frank-N-Dank, Phat Kat, Que D, Slum Village, and 5-ELA.Check out OfficialJDilla.com for orders, and more info, and up top you see the video for the album track, "DILLATROIT", with Guilty Simpson, Nick Speed and Supa Emcee on vocals. TURN IT UP!!
