[Stream] BUGSY DA GOD - "Camoflauge Discipline"

Hip-hop has always been a movement for the underdog which explains why many of the all time best projects in the genre has been created on a real underground movement. Bugsy Da God might not be the most recognized name in this industry, that's for sure, but he heavily endorsed by Killarmy's Dom Pachino and by extension many of the extended Wu-Tang family (the dope ones at that like Shyheim, Falling Down, 4th Disciple and Bronze Nazareth). In 2011 he released "Terrorist Advocate" his solo debut, again presented by Dom Pachino, and featuring production by 4th and Bronze and received acclaim from dedicated Wu-Tang and Killarmy fans all over the globe. With his second album which was just released the other day his gritty reality raps has been sharpened a lot more as his flow, delivery, writing and performance has been severely improved. And with strong production by Havoc, 4th Disciple, UK's Endemic, Falling Down, Bronze Nazareth and guest verses from Dom Pachino, Timbo King, Tragedy Khadafi, Lethafase, Trife Diesel, Afu-Ra, Masta Killa, Progial Sunn, Big Noyd, Killah Priest, Polite, and Islord you can count on this being one of those albums people will rediscover ten years from now, wondering why the hell people totally overlooked this gem on release. So don't be that guy and be sure to peep this shit ASAP, you can stream the entire project below and order the limited CD for $15.00 so don't wait because this will not be repressed.

And as I've been on a hiatus from posting, the sister or brother album to this excellent release which was also released on Napalm Recordings earlier this year is Dom Pachino's new, and without a doubt finest solo release yet, "War Poetry" fully produced by Bronze Nazareth (save for a bonus cut laced by 4th) - check it out here while you bump this crazy Bugsy Da God LP below. Trust me that you won't see this on many years ends best of list beside The Lost Tapes, which's why you coming back to this banger right!

[Stream] DOM PACHINO / BRONZE NAZ - "War Poetry"

Bronze Nazareth can be quite hit or miss to me, I know he's considered the second coming of RZA which I Think is just nuts but there's definitely no denying that he often can Cook up very dope beats and when the emcee is right magic can happen - especially as he is steadily getting better. His full-length collaborations with Willie The Kid ("Living Daylights"), Canibus ("Time Flies...Life Dies") and now Killarmy's Dom Pachino with "War Poetry".

Killarmy has always been a very interesting group to me, but to be honest I never cared at all for them lyrically save for Killa Sin, Dom Pachino a.k.a. PR Terrorist and the ocassional Shogun Assasson verse but those members apperances together with the immaculate 4th Disciple productions have allowed them to come out with several classic tracks and even incredible front-to-back albums. And as I stated Dom Pachino is one of the few emcees out the crew that I Think can hold down a solo album by himself so you can bet I was hyped for this when the first singles and info broke. Now the album is here and it does not dissapoint - what with guest apperances from Killa Sin (possibly the last we'll ever hear from him), Prodigal Sunn, Leatha Fase, Shyheim, Timbo King, Sav Killz, Pop Da Brown Hornet, Shogun Assasson, C-Rayz Walz, Termanology and even a bonus production by 4th Disciple himself... And a scorching Cilvaringz diss track in "Haunted Dreams". For any fans of Wu-Tang, Bronze Nazareth, Killarmy, this is an obvious must hear. Unfortunately the small amount of limited CD runs is already gone so the album is only available in digital format, which you can stream in its entirety over at Dom's Bandcamp so be sure to give it a go and support the real! BANG BANG!

[EPK/Singles] BIZZ / 4TH DISCIPLE - "Prince Of New York LP"

Highly talented New Jesey lyricist Bizz The Prince has been working on his full-length album "Back to Basics" which has been in the works since late 2011 but is finally looking to be just about finished. The entire album is produced by the legendary producer 4th Disciple, the most underrated producer in the game based on the countless classics he has produced for Killarmy, Hell Razah and Killah Priest (which has showed that he's perfectly capable of crafting timeless sonical front-to-back masterpieces) as well as unbeliavable cuts for the Wu-Tang Clan, N-Tyce/Weldon Irvine, Method Man, LA The Darkman,  Shabazz The Disciple, Gravediggaz, Cappadonna, Sunz Of Man, Vinnie Paz, Tragedy Khadafi and countless others.

As 4th Disciple is one of my favorite producers, as the guy who used to be the Wu-Tang Clan's hidden weapon back in the day, and packs a truly unique sound, the news that he and Bizz is actually going to release a full-length album together really made me HYPED. The first couple of street singles I heard a while back didn't do all that much for me, but they might not even turn up on the album as they were early tracks and years has passed, but recent singles like the mind blowing "Cold World" and the Inspectah Deck assisted BANGER "Break The Walls". No date has been set yet, but as the official singles has started dropping at a rapid rate and a proper EPK has been released I have a feeling we will see this very soon. You'll find the 6 minutes EPK up top of this post, "Cold World" video and the "Break The Walls" track right below it. The older 4th Disciple tracks that we're originally slated for the LP whcih also packs a slightly different sound, making me believe they won't appear on the album any more, are the two tracks passed to the bottom of this post. These two tracks are the Kinetic 9 collaboration "Realest Spittin'" and the Freeway assisted "We Shine". Enjoy, feel free to leave a comment about your thoughts on the forthcoming album and stay tuned for more info as the album progresses. In the meantime support Bizz and 4th by purchasing these bangers in HQ Mp3 rips directly from iTunes - it is appreciated!

BIZZ THE PRINCE - "Cold World" [prod. 4th DISCIPLE]

New Jersey emcee Bizz The Prince have worked on and off with one of the most underrated producers of all time in 4th Disciple of Killarmy fame. Now they have reunited for perhaps their illest singles yet, "Cold World", Rip Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Mike Brown.

P.R. TERRORIST - "Mental Calisthetics"

Another new banger from one of the earliest and most talented Wu-Tang Killa Beez comes from P.R. Terrorist a.k.a. Dom Pachino from Killarmy. The single is called "Mental Calisthetics" and is the lead single from The Terrorist's upcoming new album, entirely produced by Bronze Nazareth, with an additional bonus track supplied by the almighty 4th Disciple. Sounds very interesting indeed!

[Album] WU-TANG CLAN - "A Better Tomorrow"

YES, it is finally here - the first Wu-Tang Clan full-length album since 2007's "8 Diagrams" is now available to stream in full via Warner Music Germany's official YouTube channel. I wasn't sure we were ever going to hear another Clan album but it is very welcome and I've been a fan of most of the singles so far so this is about to be a damn interesting 60+ minutes. The majority of the songs are produced by The RZA; track #1 is co-produced by Rick Rubin, tracks 3 and and 7 are produced by Mathematics, while tracks 8 and 11 are produced by 4th Disciple. The production credits does not give credit to Adrian Younge for "Crushed Egos" but according to his Twitter account he did in fact produce the beat ... The song "Felt" goes hard, DAMN!

[Comp / Article] 4TH DISCIPLE - "Disciple Zone Vol. 1"

El-Divine Amir Bey, better known as 4th Disciple, is a true original in a hip-hop game where most producers is occupied by imitating each other. Though once an integral part of the Wu-Elementz, the exclusive production company lead by The RZA, 4th Disciple was undoubtedly the one who had a 100% unique style whereas Mathematics, True Master and later Bronze Nazareth sounded more like protoges of RZA. Born and bred in Steubenville, Ohio, Bey, then known as Sewlyn Bougard, grew up in a musical family and started soaking up the bulging hip-hop scene at a young age. "I was born into music. From my mother playing the classics around the house, to my father and uncles jamming in Grandma's basement, all of which influenced me heavily." After acquiring some equipment 4th soon started sharpening his skills as a deejay which eventuall would lead to production using both pause-tapes and a Casio keyboard. Steubenville also housed a gang of local emcees which  would become incredibly important to 4th's future career, including One Man and future Killarmy members Islord, Shogun Assasson and Beretta 9.

Around this time Robert Diggs, a.k.a. The RZA, occassionally visited Steubenville with his cousins ODB and GZA, selling drugs and hanging out in similiar circles as 4th. The future superstar and head of Wu-Tang Clan recognized a kindred spirit in the young 4th Disciple and invited him to work on the nine-man unit's now classic debut album "Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)". Though he didn't produce anything on the album per se, he handled the turntables on the few cuts that needed turntable work, and more importantly gave him his first taste of recording an album as well as soaking up production tips from Prince Rakeem "The RZA". Even then he realized that he was part of a beginning legacy that was gonna be huge, "I always believed in my heart and mind ["36 Chambers"] would be a success. I actually thought things would grow to be bigger than it did but it's still a legacy". It wouldn't take long before after this that 4th's name started appearing as a producer; in 1994 he laced the A-side of female emcees Wild Pitch single "Hush Hush Tip", a collaboration with Method Man and legendary composer and pianist Weldon Irvine, followed by "Sub Crazy" on Meth's debut album "Tical". The latter is an interesting case, not only because it's the first non-RZA production on a Wu-Tang clan related album, but because 4th was credited as a co-producer under RZA although he himself has statetd that he did indeed make the basic track. A long standing rumour is that Def Jam didn't want any unknown producers on Meth's debut album, and many has said that Y-Kim is the uncredited producer of "What The Blood Cloth". Proper credit on not, 4th would go on to work in various capacities on the debut albums by Ol' Dirty Bastard (co-producer) and Raekwon (co-mixer, technician and turntablist on several tracks), produced joints with 12 O'Clock, Raekwon, U-God and Cappadonna for various mid-'90s soundtracks. But most importantly he produced no less than five tracks of Wu-Tang Clan's multi-platinum selling world wide phenomenon "Wu-Tang Forever"; including stand out tracks such as "Impossible", "A Better Tomorrow" and "Older Gods".

4th's style became instantly recognizable; structuring hard hitting, but emotional and melodic samples from relatively obscure sources, often favorizing music in major key. As he started moving away from the inner circle of the Wu-Tang Clan his focus became producing music for Sunz Of Man, Gravediggaz, Killah Priest and especially his group Killarmy - a six man unit made up of members from both Steubenville and Staten Island, whose three albums 4th produced, mixed and oversaw, in fact working behind the scene as the "unofficial" seventh member. By this time The Disciple had definitely found a large fan base and a signature sound that still to this day makes Wu-Tang fans cry out for 4th beats on any and all Wu-Tang album that's being released, despite him not having worked with a Clan member since Cappadonna's "Blood Brothers" (2003) and U-God's "A Long Time Ago" (2005). Instead he has focused a lot of his time working with underground artists and putting out previously unreleased music from the heigh of his creaive bursts. He's also a well-experienced engineer and mixer for hire. But whether he's producing or mixing, you can always tell that he always puts his heart and soul into the music "I have been doing a lot of mixing and mastering these days but my creativity sometimes comes out quick and other times it's a long process depenedning on what I'm striving to do ... I'm a traditionalist so I still use a lot of old school methods with the new technology such as filtering bass-lines and break beat drum loops underneath or behind the kick & snare, etc."

As a long time Wu fanatic I can remember how enchanted beats like "Wu-Renegades", "Impossible", "A Better Tomorrow", "Atoms to Adams", "Nasty Immigrants", "The Night The Earth Cried", and so on made me feel at the time (and still does). In other words it's about damn time that I put together one of my compilations, Lost Tapes stylee. Since I'm sure a majority of my readers are well aware of his work on the songs already mentioned in these article, I have tried to make a compilation of equally banging material that you might not be as familiar with; a couple of them even being unreleased to this day. I usually try to keep my compilations at a reasonable length at around 60 minutes and 14-16 tracks, but listening through the possible tracks I decided that these joints are so dope I had absolutely no problem at all sitting through 20 joints and almost 75 minutes of 4th Disciple heat. I really hope you do the same, and truy enjoy this career overview of the talented musician that stretches from 1994 to 2012 and includes music by Killarmy (none of the album stuff though), One Man, Raw Intellect, Cilvaringz, Tragedy Khadafi, Prodigal Sunn, Rev. William Burks, Vinnie Paz, Sunz Of Man and more. I have a feeling that this will be the first out of two volumes, his catalouge aint huge but pretty much everything in it is extremely on point. The interview quotes spread out throughout the interview are borrowed from iStandardproducer's interview with 4th, which is a nice read while you sit back, press play and  TURN IT UP!!  Oh, one last thing - since I don't have PhotoShop on my new computer, I borrowed the cover of 4th's unreleased instrumental project "Frequence Enforcements Lessons One" for this. If anyone wish to help me out with future compilation artworks please drop me an e-mail.

[Upcoming] 4TH DISCIPLE - "BEST OF 740"

It should come as no suprise to anyone who frequently visit this site that i hold the 4th Disciple in the highest regard as far as hip-hop producers go. He's been a vital part in some of the finest produced hip-hop albums of all time, even proving that he can create a front-to-back timeless piece of classic (see Killarmy's "Silent Weapons For Quiet") and unlike the vast majority of producers, no matter how dope, 4th without a doubt has a real sound that is none others than his own. The main reason that he is not mentioned as often as he should when it comes to discussions of the best living producers is his output, because even though he's behind some of the hottest record of modern times (Shabazz's "Death Be The Penalty", Killah Priest's "Tai Chi", Killarmy's "Wu-Renegades", Wu-Tang Clan's "Impossible", to name a few) the Steubenville, Ohio native has mostly laced emcees that are the true definition of underground, all the while removing himself further and further from his cohorts in the Wu-Tang Clan. The other important reason is that his catalouge is comparatively small, and this is not at all because he is lazy behind the boards but rather that he's sitting on tons of unreleased material. For example he produced a full album for a group he was involved in called The Orphanage that also featured Lord Superb and Shogun Assasson; he produced an incredibly sick album by fellow Ohio native One Man, and so on.

Luckily for us real heads, 4th is getting tired of sitting on all this classic and has started up a series entitled "Unreleased Classics" with the mission of releasing much of this material. It will be very interesting to see what will come out of this, I'm especially interested in the Orphanage sessions, but first and foremost he's dropping the heavily expanded "Best of 740 Vol. 1+2", a 20 track collection of songs featuring some of the illest Ohio emcees you never heard, all over vintage 4th production. "Best Of 740" was originally recorded as a 9 track offering that's absolutely terrific in its execution, but the version that is now getting an official release features the same nine songs a long with eleven more never before heard joints including spitters such as Shogun Assosson, Raw Intellect, One Man, and many more. The LP will be released on May 13, 2014 and though the press release states that it will be a strictly digital release, I have heard rumours that a limited CD edition will also be pressed up. I would definitely throw up some $$ to have this collection of heavy hitting 4th Disciple bangers in the collection, so let's hope this is the case. Check out the official 13 minute snippet reel and be amazed at how fantastic it actually sounds and check out the full tracklist below. Stay tuned as the story develops, but as of now May 13 is the day to mark in your calendars. In the meantime be sure to check out the official 4th Disciple blog for news, mixtapes, and more.

HELL RAZAH Ft. Young Nobel - "Thug Tear Dropz" [prod. 4th DISCIPLE]

Heaven Razah links up with Young Noble of The Outlawz for a 4th Disciple produced banger called "Thug Tear Dropz", and you know how much we love collaborations between Hell Razah and 4th. I'm not sure when this was recorded since it listed for Hell, rather than Heaven, Razah, but nontheless it's previously unreleased and with Young Noble to boost this is a definite listen. Not too much information on this one, but the cover attached to Soundcloud suggest that it's lifted from a forthcoming mixtape entitled "Ghetto Govt." presented by Razah.

4th DISCIPLE Ft. ARMEL & DETIN8 - "Paint"

4th Disciple is well known as the producer of several classic records for Wu-Tang Clan, Killarmy, Sunz of Man and The Gravediggaz, so anytime the Ohio artist comes out with new material you better know it's worth a listen. The recently unveiled demo "Paint" is a great example of 4th's unique style - I'm really digging the way he tweaks and stretches the sample used right here. On the microphone we hear 4th Disciple himself (on the opening verse if I'm not mistaken), as well as Armel (remember "Rough Cut" by GZA?) and Detin8.

[Album] GNETICZ - "Foregin Oil"

Gneticz is a true underground emcee that brings raw verbal skills and head nod inducing beats to the table. He's released several mixtapes and EP:s, and debuted as an album artist in 2001 with "Japaneticz" via Dirty Hat Productions. His second effort is called "Foreign Oil" and has been in the works for a long time, which is evident by the quality of the music found here. Production are handled by underground heavy hitters 4th Disciple, Bronze Nazareth, Kevlaar 7, Endemic and Gneticz himself.

Killah Priest Ft. Nas - "Eye For An Eye" [4th Disciple Mix]

Killah Priest and 4th Disciple are one of the craziest underground emcee/producer duo's out there; from  "B.I.B.L.E.", "Devil in Descize", and "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" to half of "Heavy Mental" and the "One Step" EP, so forth. Rarely do these guys dissapoint, so imagine the smile on my face when I found out that Priest's 2006 collabo with Nas "Gun 4 Gun" ("The Offering") were originally recorded over a Disciple banger. The album version was of course produced by Kount Fif; a real hardbodie track by all acounts, but it's great to hear this alternative mix that 4th posted just a few minutes ago. TURN IT UP!!

Prodigal Sunn Ft. Hell Razah - "Rising"

Two of the original members of the legendary Sunz of Man crew joins back up for the most anticipated song from Prodigal Sunn's latest LP - "Hood Chroniclez". Hell Razah sounds great here and word is that he's doing a lot better now, which of course is fantastic news. 4th Disciple is the producer of the joint, called "Rising", and these three together really delivers a banger as stone cold as one could have hoped for when first seeing this on the tracklist. While you're at it, peep the official pre-tape "Hood Chroniclez: Sound Movie Street Tape" below; featuring a mix of classic and new P.Sunn put together by Salvee One and Prodigal Sunn.

4th DISICPLE & "The Best of 740"

"The Best of 740" was originally a self-released mini-album put out by often super underrated producer 4th Disciple himself. It featured nine songs of tracks that had been sitting on the shelf for a way too long time, and featured such heavyhitters as "The Fall" (with Shogun Assasson), "Heavy Berdenz" (with One Man) and "Time Passes". As reported earlier, 4th is giving "740" a more official release; doubling up the tracklist to 20 songs (click link for tracklist). This should be a wrothy addition to any Wu heads collection, as 4th's been responsible for some of the most timeless pieces in the group and their affilliates entire back catalouges. Below you'll find the 17 minutes mix sampler of the album/compilation, mixed by 4th himself; above you'll see the video for "Beat Down", which I can't spot on the tracklist but nontheless is said to be from the album. "Beat Down" features performances by Armel the Great, Profane, Detin8 [UK] and Sneak Sinatra.

[Shelved Classics] One Man - "Crime & Punishment in America"

A discussion about 4th Disciple's brilliant production work on Killarmy's "Silent Weapons For Quiet Wars" over @ The T.R.O.Y. Forum sparked my interest in revisiting the Shelved Classics section of this blog. I don't really think 4th Disciple need no longer introduction here, but a few interesting poiints can be made. He first met up with The RZA when the latter lived in 4th and about half of Killarmy's home of Steubenville, Ohio for a period of time - spreading knowledge about the NOI and their 12 jewels. 4th Disciple, who was a superb producer in his own right, was soon invited to be a part of the Wu-Elementz and in 1994 became the first producer to work on a Wu-Tang Clan solo album besides RZA when he got a co-producer credit for Method Man's "Sub Crazy". It was first in 1997 that his name really started to ring bells amongst hip-hop heads, as he got the chance to provide no less than five stand out cuts on the multi-platinum selling "Wu-Tang Forever". This was soon followed by the release of "Silent Weapons For Quiet Wars", the '97 debut of 4th's own group Killarmy, which was featured six emcees, made up of members hailing from both Sreubenville and NYC. Aside from two RZA beats, 4th Disciple produced the album in its entirety and arranged and molded it in to a dark, haunting sonic masterpiece. It was these two releases that once and for all solidified his name as a genius producer with a unique sound vision.

Besides his work with Wu-Tang Clan and its many affiliates, 4th produced albums worth of material for lesser known artists that unfortunately never saw the light of the day (another day I'll make a post on The Orphanage crew). One such project in particular was the immaculate "Crime & Punishment in America" starring the mysterious Ohio native One Man. Not much information is available on either the album or the artist, and while he's not the sharpest rhymer 4th recorded with, his mixture of political, afro-centric rhymes, and heartfelt, deeply personal lyrics more than makes up for any shortcomings on the technical side of things. Production wise, 4th Disciple's vintage mid-'90s sound is quickly recognized with all of its trademarks - breakneck drums, multi-layered tracks often incorporating string sections and music with symphonic qualities, avoiding the typical funk and soul grooves commonly associated with '90s boom bap - giving the music an epic feel in creating a sort of hip-hop symphony. Together these two go together like you wouldn't believe - peep the haunting center piece of the album, "Black Sheep", where 4th's saxophone driven beat and One Man's brutally honest lyrics about growing up hard together creates images and feelings as clear as any cinema will produce.

There's little info on when this in reality was recorded, or even if it originally was intended as an album, but the information sheet released with the CD states that at least parts of the music found here were recorded in 1994. This means it predates the Killarmy debut and "Forever" joints by three years, going back to a time where really the only released 4th production was N-Tyce & Meth's "Hush Hush Tip", which was co-produced by The RZA. The then unknown 4th's unconventional production style, and One Man's personal experience as a poor black man in America could not have been an easy sale to whatever mountain climbing A&R they might have shopped the album too, but it makes it clear why RZA made sure 4th Disciple were included in the Wu-Tang fold.

There's also a chance that the album was recorded but lost in 4th's vaults, until it was found around the year 2006, considering the release of a very limited edition digital release of the album in 2007, made available together with another nine track mini-LP of unreleased productions entitled "The Best Of 740: Unreleased Classics" . The latter is getting a proper re-release this year but the, in my opinion, superior "Crime & Punishment in Ameirca" is still not available in any official capacity. This is something no 4th Dsciple and/or Killarmy fan should allow themeselves to miss out on hearing, so make sure to grab the free download below. I also added a 13th bonus track featuring both artists, lifted from 4th's original '99 solo debut; "The Steel Valley Project Vol. 1" (remember mp3.com fellas?), which will make for another interesting post another day. Enjoy this gem and TURN IT UP!!

Killah Priest - "Anakims Dream"

Killah Priest and producer 4th Disciple reunites for "Anakin's Dream", a cut that most likely will end up on the rapper's long awaited "Psychic World of Walter Reed". Before that, it will also make its way to the "Digital Dynasty 20" mixtape, hosted by Cormega, which will is said to drop before the end of this month so watch out for that. Intense storytelling over intense production equals another sick track from this duo.

4th Disciple reveals tracklist for "Best Of 740"

Anyone familiar with the Wu-Tang Clan should know a little something about producer 4th Disciple. He was one of the only producers beside RZA to get several beat placements on the classic Clan albums and first round of solo projects from the generals between 1993 and 1997. He hasn't been very prolific in recent years though, as not as far as releasing his stuff to the public, but that is about to change. A few years back he dropped a very limited mini album called "Best Of 740" which featured rare and unreleased work from the MC/producer. I know alot of people slept on that, but it's a truly banging release, and luckily 4th has decided to release a Vol. 2 of the project, tie it up with the original and sell it as a 2xCD package. Each CD will include ten tracks, displaying both 4th Disciple's skills as a producer and a rapper as well as several guest apperances from little known but often dope MCs. Check out the tracklist below (click to enlarge) and stay tuned for more info about this project. Shouts to Jammin for spreading the info.
