As I announced yesterday Columbia Records and Nas are celebrating the 20:th anniversary of what migth be the most perfect hip-hop album ever recorded. The special edition will not only feature the complete "Illmatic" album, but also a disc featuring all of the official remixes that originally appeared as B-sides to the promotional singles from the LP. When "It Ain't Hard to Tell" was released as a maxi-single in the UK in '94, it featured two exclusive remixes of the track made by UK producers Dave Scratch and The Creators, respectively. The latter went on to become somewhat succesfull and even released a couple of albums but it seems that "The Stink Mix" of the Nas track was Dave Scratch only contribution to the music industry as a producer which is quite interesting to say the least... Especially sicne the track ain't at all wack, it's a far cry from the original, but the multipal layers of samples and funky break makes for an interesting listen of such a well-known song in a completely new outfit. Also features Drum N Bass DJ DJ Ron on the 1:s and 2:s. The double album drops April 11 and can be pre-ordered @ Amazon (CD) or iTunes (digital).
