[EP] J57 & KONCEPT - "The Fuel"

Brown Bag All-Stars member J57 is one of the few newer producers to really impress me with a steady stream of solid material these last couple of years. Here he connects with fellow New York artist Koncept for "The Fuel" EP, an eight songs strong new project that has been in the works for quite some time if I understand it correctly. SHABAAM SAHDEEQ - "GMR"

  If you follow The Lost Tapes you know that I, mr. claaa7, is a huge fan of Shabaam Sahdeeq and the "Ke epers of the Lost Faith" was one of the most underrated albums of last year. Now he's back with another project entitled "Timeless Of The Collection", which is spearheaded by the hard banging lead single "GMR" produced by Brown Bag AllStars member J57 with cuts by DJ Eclipse. The album which will be released digitallly via Bandcamp will feature a handpainted cover by Shabaam himself for each single, and limited editions of this singles artwork is available from Shadeeq's Bandcamp on prints and T-shirts so hurry up and buy. Dope cut too!

JUS DAZE - "I Miss..." [prod. J57]

"I Miss..." is the title of the new single by Queens emcee Jus Daze, where the highly skilled lyricist has enlisted the help from Brown Bag AllStar producer J57 for the proper soundbed. This is some real New York ish here so don't sleep!

[Album] BROWN BAG ALLSTARS - "BBAS 2013: A Year in Review"

The Brown Bag AllStars is true hip-hop lovers and that truly reflects in the music they create, with producers like The Audible Doctor, J57, DeeJay Element, and several more both rhymers and beat heads. Throughout they have released several amazing material, much which has been posted here (especcially the stuff of J57 and of course Audible Doctor), so this free compilation they just dropped is a real treat for the fan who might not be excessively following them (like me), and also works as a very good introduction to the crew. "Brown Bag AllStars 2013: A Year in Review" features the crew's finest moments of the past year, and is a definite sure shot listen so what you're waiting for, press play and let the head nodding and awe struck face begin. 

SOUL KHAN - "Praying For A River"

The Brown Bag AllStars crew is back with another nice joint; J57 provides the vocals for "Praying For A River", produced by J57. Word is that the duo will unleash a free album of material before the end of the year, so yeah, I'm hyped!

  

[Video] PLANET ASIA & RAS KASS - "Kings"

Two of the West Coast's finest lyricists join forces over a heavyhitter supplied by DJ Numsonic (remember Reks' last album), with some straight turntablism supplied by DJ Heron. "Kings" is the lead sigle from an album featurig some extreme talented vocalists going in over productions by Brown Bag AllStars J57 and DJ Numsonic called "LI FTW" which hopefully will see the light of the day soon enough. The video was directed by Garcoa for Crazy Hood Films.

Blame One & J57 - "B.L.A.M.E.57"

Brown Bag Allstar producer J57 and Dirty Science emcee link up for "B.L.A.M.E. 57", the second single (following "They Don't Know") off their upcoming collaboration LP "Walk in the Sun" which is out on Soulspazm Records on August 27. Hit play below and get ready for a lyrical exercise over real thumping beats with DJ Rhettmatic tearing up the turntables for the second time of the day. J57 - "Half Zombie"

The Brown Bag AllStar's producer J57 drops another fat track, this time bringing in a bunch of talented underground emcees to bless it. "Half Zombie" features performances from Silent Knight, Emilio Lopez, Koncept and DJ Emoh Bettah. The song appears on J57's new EP, "2057" which is available only @ J57music.com where you can stream and purchase the download.

Since I started The Lost Tapes I've been getting tons of new music in the mail on a daily basis. This is of course mainly a great thing, but as I don't have the time to check even close to everything, a lot of good stuff tend to get lost in the shuffle. Cleaning out my inbox I just found this funky J57 versus Rasheed Chappell song in an unopened promo letter from the BBS crew dating back to October 3. In other words, there's a good chance you are familiar with this one by now, but just in case you've been as sleepy as I, here goes the Rob Levy directed visuals for "Elite Status" - featuring DJ Brace on the cut. The track is one of ten songs that can be found on J57's latest EP "2057", which is available exclusively at J57music.com.
