PHAROAHE MONCH - "Get Down" [prod. M-PHAZES]

While Pharoahe Monch's "Post Tramautic Stress Disorder" LP is blasting through most serious hip-hop heads speakers on a daily basis, Coalmine Records lets loose of another ill single from the Mighty Pharoahe. "Get Down" is produced by the often very impressive M-Phazes with cuts by the equally impressive DJ Revolution. The track is lifted from Coalmine Records upcoming compilation / mixtape "Unearthed" which drops May 13. Now with this record available for listen basically the entire project is available to stream track-by-track.

EDIT - I just realized that Coalmine is not only selling this as a digital single on sites like iTunes, but are actually pressing up a limited run of 45 singles with the instrumental on the flip. You can pre-order it @ Fat Beats for its 4/29 release date.

[EP] SEAN PRICE & M-PHAZES - "Land Of The Crooks"

I was very hyped when the news of Boot Camp Clik's always dope Sean Price has hooked up with Australian beat guru M-Phazes for the five track EP "Land Of The Crooks". The record is now out and I've had a review copy for the full project in my mail for a week or so, so with a few listens already in I can say that the extended play is just as dope as one could expect... Not least with guest apperances from Billy Danze, Roc Marciano, Maffew Ragazino, DJ Babu and an exclusive remix from Small Professor & Guilty Simpson. With the actual tracks (not counting instrumentals) clocking in at just over 18 minutes, M-Phazes and Sean Price brings nothing but heat in a true boom bap fashion that surely will guarantee heads nodding. So far it's a digital download only from various digital retailers, which includes the instrumentals as a free bonus. Hopefully, this will eventually find it's way to a limited vinyl pressing - as this would definitely sit well on a turntable, but until then you can either cop.it from iTunes or stream the entire project below, thanks to SPIN,

 

SEAN PRICE / M-PHAZES Ft. Roc Marciano - "Murdah Type Thinkin'"

'I got real hyped when I first heard the news that Australian's own super producer M-Phazes has joined forces with the always reliable Ruck; a collaboration that indeed promises extraordinary things. I've had the advantage of being able to hear the full project a few days ago and trust me when I say that it does not dissapoint ... Being that it's only a five track EP, with one of those cuts being an remix by Small Professor and Guilty Simpson, the vast majority of the EP has already leaked now that Duck Down lets loose of the Roc Marciano assisted original M-Phazes version of "Murdah Type Thinkin'". This is hardcore hip-hop as it sould sound, complete with pounding drums, a repetitive synth line, well placed turntable work (courtesy of DJ Devastate), an agressve bass line and an equally agressiv Sean Price that switches to hilarious in a heartbeat. 

For the record, the Small Professor / Guilty Simpson is completely different in almost all aspects, providing a much more laid back yet headnodding take on the material, that makes for a nice companion piece both to "Land Of The Crooks" and the "Highway Robbery" EP. The Sean P / M-Phazes officially hits retailers on December17, unfortunately it might only be a digial release though I'm not entirely sure since the iTunes release lists instrumentals and dirty versions of all songs, while the review copy iI got also features the clean versions of all sonngs, so maybe there's hope for a vinyl release at all. Absolutely fantastic news is that Sean Price and M-Phazes is teaming up for the collaborative EP "Land of the Crooks" to be released December 17. This'll be very interesting as these two very rarely drops the ball and with guest apperances from Billy Danze, Maffew Ragazino, DJ Babu, Small Professor, Roc Marciano, Guilty Simpson and Loudmouf Choir you're welcome to get HYPED! Substantial - "Grateful" [prod. M-Phazes]

Mello Music Group signee Substantial should be on your check-for list, if he hasn't already made it, because this cat packs some serious skills and got a great ear for beats. Last month he dropped his latest album, "Home is Where the Art is" which is filled with dope beats, rhymes and life and features production by beat wizards like Oddisee, SlopfunkDust, Eric Lau, and M-Phazes. The latter hooks up Substantial and guest performers Kenn Starr and Kokayi with some real flavorful headnod ish on "Grateful"; the latest album single, which also happens to be the LP:s epilogue. 

I was meant to post this a few days ago but for anyone who might have missed out, and it's a great promo for the album which is available for order on vinyl, CD, and of course in digital via iTunes so pick your weapon folks.

New J-LIVE cuts

J Live Music, the triple threat's Official Site is one of the artist homepages worth checking out on a regular basis. Occassionally 'Live drops off some hot non album tracks, freestyles and remixes free of charge to give something back to the fans that has followed the former school teacher's impressive career. Sometimes we get a mixtape or cover versions of classic boom bap joints like Diamond D's "A Day in the Life" or The Roots' "Clones". This time there's a whole bunch of J-Live guest features and remixes to enjoy from the "S.P.T.A." (Spitta that is). So let's get down to business:

First out is a new mix of "From Scratch", the opener from "S.P.T.A." album where J. Scrilla put his remix skills to the test over Illastrate's original LP version. This mix was made for the Kevin Nottingham sponsored remix EP "Dirty Loops Remix EP" which also features new takes on joints by Roc Marciano, Boog Brown, XO and many more. Next up is an absolutely mindblowing remix of J-Live's Domingo produced "So Good", remixed by M-Phazes. This particular mix appears on M-Phazes' latest official compilation "Phazed Out" which I recommend you picking up if you like some vintage boom bap esthetics. "So Good" closes that LP and as it's always an important thing to end an album on a good note, having fans to fiend for more you can imagine that this being a powerful cut. J-LIVE - "SUPER GOOD" [M-PHAZES RMX]

Finally J-Live shares three of his latest guest features available to us heads heads free of charge. Artists he's worked with here includes Lyric Jones, Senór Kaos w. Flux and Ekundayo. If you're not too familiar with J-Live before for some reason, maybe these five songs can open your eyes to the dopeness that is J-Live. Talib Kweli / Outasight / M-Phazes / Big K.R.I.T.

Talib Kweli dropped his new M-Phazes produced single "Beautiful" today, complete with guest vocals from Outasight, Big K.R.I.T. and Mela Machinko. Released in collaboration with Coalmine Records, all proceedings from the digital sales will go to the American Cancer Society who works with raising awareness about the disease. M-Phazes + Big Noyd & Strong Arm Steady

Australian producer M-Phazes has really begun making moves and making a name for himself over the last few years with sick placements on albums by the likes of M.O.P., J-Live, Pharoahe Monch and Edo G. Now, Coalmine Records are preparing a mixtape for January release which will include various tracks from their catalouge remixed by M-Phazes while the actual tape will be hosted and mixed by DJ Rhettmatic. The first single from that project has arrived, as M takes on "All Out" by Big Noyd featuring Strong Arm Steady (Krondon and Phil The Agony). Banging shit! Spotted @ KevinNottingham, thx.
