Robbie Etterson's brilliant hip-hop site UNKUT was definitely one of the reasons I wanted to get into this blog game, and it still remains one of my favorite sites. A few years ago Robbie got together a gang of dope underground rappers and producers and released the Unkut mixtape "Counterstrike". But now, on the 10 year anniversary of the sites incarnation, Robbie definitely steps it up with "Counterstrike 2: A Decade Of UNKUT", featuring 20 tracks with exclusive material from a lot of my favorite artists and producers. Some of the most interesting is the first Real Live material in years (K-Def and Larry-O for those not in the know), an Amed produced Milano banger, Grand Daddy I.U., Omniscience, Beneficence, $amhill, Craig G/Agallah and several others. This is a definite must hear if you love underground hip-hop, in the true school end of things, and is available for free download and CD and possible tape editions will pop up as well.

TIMELESS TRUTH - "Trife"

Hardcore Queens spiter Timeless Truth been dropping a whole bundch of well-oiled hip-hop bangers over the last couple of years, releasing their fat but overlooked debut album "Rock-It-Science" last year (featuring production and cameos from from PF Cuttin, Large Pro, Sean Price, Roc Marciano, Acion Bronson, etc.) (cop it @ FatBeats). We are definitely fiending for more from this real-life brothers duo and with their upcoming "Dominican Diner", EP, entirely produced by Fafu, and the first single "Trife" is definitely promising!

LEX Ft. TIMELESS TRUTH - "Straight Queens Action"

Hardcore spitter LEX links up with the always impressive Timeless Truth duo for some "Straight Queens Action", set over a laid back but booming track supplied by Buck while Debonair P handles the turntables. Expect to find this on LEX's upcoming album "H.A.S.H.?!: How About Some Hardccore" which drops next month. Spotted @ Unkut.

[Video] TIMELESS TRUTH x LARGE PRO - "Wavelength"

Timeless Truth and its members Solace and Oprime39 always drop some purified rugged hip-hop shit. For "Wavelength" they hook up with everyone's favorite producer Large Professor. Look out for the intro where Extra-P reminisces on his days as a a student on John Bowne High School, set to the classic tune of his 1996 cut "Bowne". "Wavelength" is taken from Timeless Truth's forthcoming full-length "Cold Wave".

By now you should know that whenever you see the name DJ Low Cut you should prepare yourself for some real powerhouse boom bap shit. The French producer's latest endeavour is the EP "Grand Scheme" with rugged Queens spitter Nutso; a project I strongly recommend. This has been a good summer for hardbodie hip-hop records, and here's another one that will definitely serve your ears right. I have always given props to French beat maestro DJ Low Cut as he's dropped fat project after project without ever losing a step. After several collaborations with rugged Queens' spitter Nutso, the pair felt it was time to do something more official and earlier this month they released the ten track mini album "In The Cut" which you should definitely pick up, either digitally via iTunes or grab a physical copy (CD or wax) through DJ Low Cut's Bandcamp where you can also stream the project in full!

The Queens duo Timeless Truth recently released their impressive debut LP, "Rock-It-Scnce"; an album that will undoubtedly find a lot of appreciation from fans of that true school New York boom bap sound. It was released to iTunes on December 19, but there's unfortunately still no word on a CD or vinyl release yet. However, the group have allowed fans to preview the entire album in its entirety via their Soundclud page so make sure that you give this a proper listen. Features include Roc Marciano, Sean Price, and Action Bronson, but Timeless Truth hold their own very well with both the rhymes and the beats.

Timeless Truth + Roc Marciano

Timeless Truth is the name of a new American duo consisting of bloodbrothers Solace and O-Prime39. The two have been hard at work cooking up their first official album, "Rock'it Science" which is now more-or-less finished and should be out sometime this fall. This is my first time hearing the group but based on these three songs, it's serious heat that I'll definitely be on the look out for. "Irene" which features Roc Marcy is produced by R8dr while the single "True Grit"is actually produced by Marciano and features a cameo from the one and only Sean P. Download the two mentioned songs below and the video at the top is called "Memorex Massacre" and is also a R8der productrion. Enjoy!
