Estee Nack & Purpose - "Time" / "When I Get High"

Tragic Allies is a damn underrated crew, the first time I heard them was on a mixtape hosted by 4th Disciple where the group ripped up classic instrumentals from the legendary producer. Since then they have released a dope album with Tragedy Khadafi, and their producer Purpose has been making a lot of moves. Now the latter and fellow band member Estee Nack is teaming up to release the full-length "14 Forms: The Book Of Estee" on Ill Adrenaline Records. Purpose of Tragic Allies have been dropping a handfull of dope projects this year, and if it wasn't for the little time I have to write up multiple reviews for my [Best of 2013] series I would definitely include "Outside The Frame", his recent album with Paranom. Very few beats from the Tragic Allies producer that I have heard have been anything lesser than seriously sick, and the two promotional beat reels that he just posted on YouTube is by no means any exception (check out the promo reel #1 here). PARANOM & PURPOSE - "Dayz Go By"

Paranom is a highly skilled young emcee representing the Tragic Allies camp who you definitely keep your eyes and ears open for. Coming out on October 12 via Ill Adrenaline Records is Paranom's first drop as a solo vocalist, backed up by production from fellow Tragic Allies member Purpsoe. The new single is called "Dayz Go By" which will give you an idea of what the movement's all about. JMega The God comes from the True Masterz collective and based on his latest single "If I Die" I suggest you keep your eyes and ears open on this kid! The low-key yet hardcore beat is produced by Purpose of Tragic Allies and will appear on JMega's upcoming full-length debut "Niggaz is Kingz Forever".

7 G.E.M.S. - "The Annointed"

7 G.E.M.S. is the nameof a the new collaboration between Tragic Allies and Queensbridge's most legendary, Tragedy Khadafi. They have been working on a full-length album on the low, which is absolutely fantastic news and what is even better is that the joint is already actually out now. "Golden Era Music Sciences" is the fitting title based on the vintage sound of the Project, which you can get a taste of via the smashing lead single "The Annointed" heard below. Please support the Ill Adrenaline Records release from UGHH or Fat Beats (CD out May 21, wax drops early June). However, the digital release is already available and can be purchased through iTunes, trust me it's worth it!

 

Purpose & Confidence + Cormega / Estee Nack - "Vision Of Excellence"

Purpose (of Tragic Allies), who produced a lot of crazy shit on "On The Verge" mixtape, hooks up with fellow boom bap specialist Confidence (of Rashad & Confidence) for a joint producer LP titled "The Purpose of Confidence". This very promising project will be released via the stellar Ill Adrenaline Records and will hopefuly be out soon (no word on the date yet). For the first single the duo brings in Cormega and Estee Nack of Tragic Allies for a real sure shot banger. Check out the clean version below and head over to iTunes to show your support.

[Mixtape] M-Phatik & Illegal Promo w. J-LOVE Presents "ON THE VERGE"

Observant readers should be aware that you already have been warned of this monster a few times, and now it's here; what is most likely the hottest mixtape of the year! M-Phatik Sounds & Illegal Promo presents "On The Verge", mixed and hosted by the seasoned DJ veteran that is J-Love. Featuring 31 tracks, the tape features a large host of the absolute best underground rappers on the scene right now. If you think that hip-hop is dead in 2012, with the possible exception of the already well established lyricists who's still putting out hot shit, prepare to get your mind completely changed about that (together with the just released "Formula=99" by Soundsci). "On the Verge" is chock full of true school esthetics, gritty, analog sounding sample based HIP-HOP beats, crazy turntable work, and headnod material. In other words, to sleep on this would be a big disfavor to yourself.

Artists featured on the tape include Super N.E.S., Rasheed Chappell, Rashad & Confidence, Smif-N-Wessun, J-Quest, Tragic Allies, Relentless, The Audible Doctor, Chino XL, J-Love, ASN, G.Dot & Born, Edo G, Ace & Hustle, Price Stylez, J-Love, Bambinoo, Crucial, T-Max, Tony Moreaue, Red Eye, Singapore Kane, Born Unique, Agallah, Hell Razah and Tokyo Cigar as Heavenly Cartel, and many more. And we haven't even got to the producers yet, so here goes... The main lacers are Tokyo Cigar, Confidence, Nick Wiz, Purpose, M-Credible and Cyrus The Great, but additional contributed bangers comes courtesy of the great ThoroTracks, Tha Audible Doctor, P-Solid Connection, DJ Grazzhoppa, The Breaks, Crucial G and Cuzzo Sosay. 31 tracks, including both slamming posse cuts and outstanding solo tracks, all expertly mixed and cut up by J-Love with virtually no DJ shouts for those of y'all who strongly dislikes that. "On The Verge" is basically a 90 minutes smorgasbord of gripping, authentic hip-hop of today's illest up-and-coming US rappers and producers - many of who might become the legends of tomorrow - mixed with a few cameos from some of the already well-established greats for good measure.

But don't take my word for it, the mixtape is totally free and if you like the content of this site, I can guarantee you will love this as much as me. Much props to everybody involved for making this incredible project happen, it will make a lot of haters shut up about the state of hip-hop in 2012.
