KILLER MIKE / EL-P - "36" Chain" [Blue Sky Black Death Mix]

Big Dada Records is releasing the official European only limited edition of Run The Jewel's (El-Producto and KM's recently formed group) self-titled 2013 album which is available now. Besides the impeccable non-album track "Pew Pew Pew" (ft. DJ Q-Bert) and Dave Sitek's remix of "Sea Legs", this special edition also includes the strong, but stripped down Blue Sky Black Death version of "36" Chain". Given that the original version clocked in at just over three minutes, these three bonus tracks really add a lot to the project, considering how dope they all are and add some new flavor to the project while still keeping the original vision 100% intact. This is the ultimate version of the LP, no doubt and if you haven't picked up this powerhouse release yet, I strongly recommend that this edition is the one to with while it's still around.

[Album] Blue Sky Black Death - "Glaciers"

Moving beyond the hot sounds of Brazil into more chillier soundscapes with Seattle duo Blue Sky Black Death and their new album "Glaciers". I haven't pressed play on this one yet, but I can tell you that I have HIGH expectations on this one. I especially want to give it up to the duo for allowing their new tracks to play for around 15 minutes, reminiscent of much of the best jazz fusion from the '70s. Especially with instrumental music, that I like to take me on a mental journey, I believe that it many times is necessary to let the music stretch out and really allow it room to breathe. [EP] Blue Sky Black Death & Deniro Farrar

Blue Sky Black Death is a pretty interesting production duo when they want to be, sometimes they are a little too far out for my taste but on releases like "Razah's Ladder" and "The Holocaust" projects they proved they can make pretty epic hip-hop beats. For this EP that was released last week they ´have teamed up with rapper Deniro Farrar (no clue) and released a seven tracks set titled "Cliff Of Death". It hardly stands among BSDB's finest works, but it's a worthwhile listen to stream ; if you like to download you can do that do for the price of $7 over here.
