[Album] JAMAL BUFFORD - "Victim Of A Modern Age: The Instrumentals"

Last year, Jamal Bufford (p.k.a. Buff1) released his much acclaimed solo album "Victim Of A Modern Age". Now Bufford have given Mello Music Group the go-ahead to release the complete instrumental LP for free download. While it's obviously missing the essential vocal performances the production by 14KT, Buff1, Slot-A, EvillDewer, and Doc Illingworth is actually evolved and complex enough to stand on its own as an enjoyable listening experience. Stream/download via the embeded player up top or click here if you want to browse the tracklist. Of course you can also grab the CD (with vocals) @ UGHH.

[Video] JAMALL BUFFORD - "Loser" [prod. 14KT]

Jamal Bufford, a.k.a. Buf1, has been a name that has driven the underground hip-hop game forward but I really have to admit that it was his "Crown Royale" project with DJ Rhettmatic that for real really grabbed my attention. Now signed to MelloMusicGroup, the Michigan rhyme sayer hooks up with fellow MMG producer 14KT for his latest sinngle "Loser" that premiered earlier on Urb.com today

[Album] JAMAL BUFFORD (BUFF1) - "Victim Of A Modern Age"

Highly skilled writter and lyricist Jamal Bufford (p/k/a known as Buff1) has released several fat singles and projects since he hooked up with Mello Music Group. Now the Black Opera member is back with a brand new full-length project on the label, "Victim Of A Modern Age". In usual order when it comes to MMG releases, the label provides fans with the entire 14 track project for free streaming via Bandcamp, and as I just started listening it sounds like more of the typical Buff1 freshness many of us have come to love. Throughout the album, which is produced by the likes of 14KT, ZO!, Slot, and more, he touches on topics relating to his own and other personal struggles in the modern age - "in a way we're all victims, but the job of living is to rise above". Well put, stream and/or purchase below (or grab it via iTunes)... TURN IT UP!!

Def Dee Ft. Magestic Legend, Buff1 & Hasaan Mackey - "All It Takes"

Mello Music Group keeps bringing out interesting new artists into the spotlight, something they deserve huge credit for. Latest in line is Seattle producer Def Dee who signed a development deal with the label about a year ago which gave him access to their catalouge and connections with the roster. Dee's first release is now ready for the world; "33 and a Third" is a blend of a full-length LP and a compilation, cleverly created from fresh instrumentals, new songs and remixes with exclusive vocals. The first single to be liberated is called "All It Takes", featuring Hasaan Mackey, Buff1, and Magestic Legend; a fresh new take on the latter's joint of the same name from the album "The Great Escape". You can now pre-order the digital album @ iTunes.

[Album] SHA STIMULI - "The Present"

Sha Stimuli is probably one of the most active emcees when it comes to dropping music this year. Starting in January of this year, he dropped the first installment in "The Rent Tape" series with "The Calling" mixtape. Since then, Sha has released a new free tape on a monthly based, and wisely he's save the best for last - "The Present" is a collaboration with production duo Dynamite Bruhz and is full of banging beats and intellectual rhymes. Guest features are many and heavy; how about J-Live, Reks, Torae, MidaZ The Beast, Wordsworth, Skyzoo, Planet Asia, Boog Brown, Rapper Big Pooh, Buff1, and more. Don't sleep on this one guys!

Buff1 - "10,000"

After some quiet time after 2010's ill collabo with DJ Rhettmatic, "Crown Royale" , Jamal Bufford a.k.a. Buff1 returns with the new single "10,000". The laid back production is contributed by 14KT.

G.Huff & Vice Soulelectric w/ Buff1 & Reks

I gotta be honest with y'all in that I never heard of the producer/MC duo G.Huff & Vice Soulelectric Beats, hailing from Ohio. I got an e-mail with a recommendation of their recently released (July 18th) full-length album, "Where Do We Go Here", and although I haven't had the time to check out the entire thing yet, this new single "Pure Genius" featuring Buff1, Reks and Hi Jinks has insured me doing so very soon. Classic boom bap production without sounding dated and considering the guests on here you can bet the lyrical power is intact as well. If you're into digital releases, you can pick up the album @ iTunes for $9.99. Features include Guilty Simpson, Ruste Juxx, Carlita Durand, Soul Theory and others.

Video: CROWN ROYAL's "Say What?!"

Crown Royal is a project that teams up the still heavily underrated Michigan emcee Buff1 with cutmaster DJ Rhettmatic of The World Famous Beat Junkies. The video above that dropped a couple of days ago gives the visual treatment to "Say What", a choice cut from their self-titled 2010 album on the A-Side Worldwide label. You gotta love Buff1's homage to Tribe in his opening bars and adding Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill) on live percussion is a nice touch. Go ahead and order the "Crown Royale" LP in case you've been sleeping.
