BLACK SHEEP Ft. Red Alert, Chi-Ali & Sadat X - "Peace Phife"

It's about time we get a proper tribute to the legend known as Phife Dawg that passed over to the other side on March 22 due to his long struggle with diabetes. One thing's for sure his conrtribution to Hip Hop will always be remembered as something special. Over a soul laced production by Jim B. fellow Natives Tongues member Dres rounds up DJ Red Alert, Chi-Ali and Sadat X - all original friends and collegoues of The Five Footer - and they all do a commendable job in putting a worthy song on wax in celeberation of the life and times of this great artist and man. CHI-ALI x G-ROD - "Untouchable"

Had Chi-Ali never ended up in prison at the height of his career when he was backed up by The Native Tongues and The Beatnuts, I wonder where he would have been today as far as music goes. Since he finished his long sentence at the beginning of this year, the one star youngster has released a slew of singles proving that he's not to be counted out just yet. The latest addition to his catalouge is a solo track called "Untouchable", taken from fellow Bronx producer's G-Rod who does a great job of supplying Chi's powerful bars reminding people he's still here and as hungry as ever over G-Rod's signature boom bap and busy turntable work.

Livin' Proof x Maffew Ragazino x Chi-Ali - "Better Known as NYC"

I saw a sneak preview of the studio session for this last week and been anticipating the full release since, and was suprised to see it had arrived in my inbox already a couple of days ago. "Better Known as NYC" is a single from Livin' Proof's album "Die For A Deal 5.0" which is slated for an early April release. The guest features from Maffew Ragazino and Chi-Ali are both very welcome and neither fail to deliver, really good track when you get past the first 20 seconds which sounds more like some Euro Dance single (wtf was that about?!).

Chi-Ali Ft. Fat Joe - "Games & Things"

The new single from Chi-Ali "Games & Things" is a real nice, laid-back joint featuring Fat Joe. This is an especially dope listen for two reasons; to hear Chi-Ali attack the mic again for one of the first time after his long bid, and to me it's still always good to hear Joey Crack on tight productions. I'm well familiar with the sample used for the song but I can't recall what song I'm thinking off right now... hmmm.
