[Album Stream] GHOSTFACE x ADRIAN YOUNGE - "12 Reasons to Die"

It's finally here! The super anticipated new LP from Ghostface Killah, completely produced by Adrian Younge and overseen by The RZA himself. The album is out on wax and CD the 16:th of this month, but already now Soul Temple Records has unleased a digital stream of the entire LP for our enjoyment, something that has definitely made my night a lot more exciting. I haven't started listening yet, but if it's consistent with the four singles available, this got a good shot at being the best Ghostface album in many years, and that's saying a lot for someone as incredible as Ghost. Enjoy and click here if you encounter any problem with the music player below!

The Beat Junkie DJ's Rhettmatic and Shortkut releases the audio from their blazing set at lost month's SXSW party featuring classic soul, funk and hip-hop. Only the first ten tracks are listed but there's of course a lot more included in this 70 minutes heat race. Spotted @ Okayplayer.

[Snippets] THE WHOOLIGANZ - "Make Way For The W"

Check out this slamming post from the fam over @ The T.R.O.Y. Blog a couple of days ago. Basically it's a bunch of snippets from the lost album by The Whooliganz that was to come out on Tommy Boy in '93 if everything had gone as planned. The Whooliganz was the original group of The Alchemist, a duo together with Scott Caan, who got signed to Tommy Boy after touring with Cypress Hill as part of the Soul Assassins collective. The snippets feature stellar production by T-Ray, Baka Boyz and DJ Lethal... Another lost gem that needs to be made available as soon as possible! Much thanks to everyone involved in making these snippets available.

MOS DEF - "The Light is Not Afraid Of The Dark"

Okayplayer just released the full version of the dope Kanye West produced "The Light is Not Afraid of the Dark" that was premiered in a live recording some week ago. The guy of course by Yasiin Bey now, but this is not a new song but rather recorded around 2005 for his "True Magic" album. I don't know why this was cut as it's knocks pretty damn hard, and would have done a favor to Mos' most overlooked release. Crazy shouts to OKP for this lost tape!

[CDM] CANNIBAL OX - "Gotham"

12 years ago the duo of Vordul Mega and Vast Aire unleasehed their uncompromising, ground-breaking, El-P produced "The Cold Vein" on the world. Since then Vast and Mega been quiet as a duo, having fans fiending for a follow up to that cold, but spaced out look on the NYC ghetto life, although both of them has released some great solo albums in their own right; often featuring at least one cut of reunion. 2013, however, is the year that the duo will finally return as a group with a new album. There's no release date set yet, but already now you can check out three full songs, recorded for a maxi-single produced by Bill Cosmiq that will be released on April 16; "Gotham", "Gases in Hell (Inhale)" and "Psalm 82".

[TEASER] Ghostface Killa/Apollo Brown - "Brown Tape"

As you should be well aware of, Ghostface Killah's Adrian Younge collaboration "Twelve Reasons to Die" which is soon upon is will be released in several different expensive collector's packages (is there even a budget one containing just the 2xLP set?), including a cassette-only remix of the entire album by Detroit's trustworthy Apollo Brown. It's a cool idea, but I don't even have a cassette player so I really hope it all comes with download cards as well... To get an idea of what the music on "The Brown Tape" sounds like check the 7 minutes sampler up top, and in case you SLEEPT on the latest Wu-Tang Clan featured single "Murder Spree" .

[VIDEO] Sean Price - "Bar-Barian"

Sean P's "Mic Tyson" album was one of the gulliest albums out last year, no question. Despite this, I haven't listeend to it as many times as I should've had (though there's probably at least 10 good front-to-back listens in the can), so rather than a new single, I'm just pleased to say that the big man is giving the video treatment to one of the most rugged cuts of the entire LP; the "almost album opener" "Bar-Barian", produced by Alchemist who al-in-all put in some extraordinary work on that project. Both the video (which is directed by Isaac Aguilre) and the track reminds me of one of the earliest singles "STFU Pt. 2".

[Audio] SLUM VILLAGE - "Forever"

Depsite very well being the group to have changed the internal line-up more than y'all can count, its clear that T3, Dilla's brother Illa J, and Young RJ haven't forgottenn their roots at all, though they of course have moved with the taoe, This was evident on their "Dirty Slums Music" mixtapes, and maybe even more on the recenty released singe "Forever". Producer by RJ, Illa J and founding member T3, they all put in a great sound on this single, capturing much of that "D" sound that made me fall in love with The Dee's hip-hop scene in the first place. This is the first single of SV's upcoming full-length "Evolution" which drops June 20 and will be followed by a world tour featuring the entire crew as it stands today. Say tuned.
