JOEY BADA$$ x GLASS ANIMALS - "Lose Control"

Boom banging new single from Mr. Bada$$ who here teams up with UK rock band Glass Animals. Although they represent different countries and different genres "Lose Control" comes across as an organic collaboration that showcases both sides strengths and combine them with full force. As if that wasn't enough, Joey Bada$$ recently let loose of a slamming new cut called "Aim High" which sees the young emcee letting loose over an instrumental signed Alchemist and Harry Fraud. One of my favorite tracks from Joey Bada$$ exqusititely dope "B.4.Da.$$", so far one of 2015's best albums, gets the video treatment, directed by Tom Gould. The track in question is DJ Premier's contribution to the LP, "Paper Trail$", a bad ass joint where Preemo really gave Joey one of his trademark bangers that could have been something from the early 2000s. MusicHeadz got a hold of an advance copy of Joey Bada$$ highly anticipated official debut album "B.4.Da.$$" and got the permission to post an almost nine minute snippet reel of the project. The LP is completed and is scheduled for a January 20, '15 release date. Though early report stated that producers would include DJ Premier, BJ The Chicago Kid, J Dilla, Statik Selektah, Lee Bannon and more. The thireen track album is being released in January, is mads up of 15 tracks, and while nor all of rhe announced producers will appear you are going to hear Joey going in over beats by Dj Premier, The Roots/J Dilla, and Statik Seltakh. Now a eight minute snippet reel is here to hold us over to the release of the album, which sounds very good. Check it out below a long with thte single released up until now.

STATIK SELEKTAH Ft. Freddie Gibbs & Joey Bada$$ - "Carry On"

A new year means another new dope Statik Selektah project, and in fact I personal feel that last year's "Extended Play" ranks amongst his two finest albums under his own name. This hopefully means that the super DJ/prooducer's upcoming album coming August 19 via Duck Down Records lives up the hype of that previous record. The first single "Carry On" featuring Freddie Gibbs and Joey Bada$$ definitely is a fine example of laid-back, jazzy boom bap with smacking street lyricism especially from Gibbs. Not even a week ago I was posting the news that the always ill Buckshot and talented up-and-coming producer of the recent "Gratitude" album, P-Money, have been working on a full-length collaboration to be released soon. "Backpack Travels" and it's title track intro was obviously short but very powerful, and now the duo let's loose of the first real song from the project, in the form of a video nontheless. The song is called "Flute" and features Buckshot going at it together with Joey Bada$$ and CJ Fly of Pro Era and its another banger that have me anticipating June 24 even more. Enjoy!

Joey Bada$$ is continuing his reign over 2013's summer hip-hop with "Amethyst Rockstar", a collaboration with his homie Kirk Knight set over a smooth beat provided by none other than the Metal Fingered Villain. Together with the two previous singles "Word is Bond" and "95 Til' Infinity", this will appear on Joey's forthcoming full-length proejct ""Summer Knights" which should be pretty Bada$$ judging from what we've heard so far. Despite a few pushbacks, July 1 is the current date so let's hope the man stick to this one for the release.

Joey Bada$$ is one of very few young emcees of today that caters to older heads who like their hip-hop with a taste of the '80s and '90s. This recipe is followed on today's menu where Joey and DJ Statik Selektah cooks up a gourmet banger entitled "Word is Bond". The "Summer Knights" EP drops on June 12... Bon appetit!

Statik Selektah is gearing up for another one of his solo projects, and in usual order has assembled some dream teams to rock over his powerhouse beats. On the first single from "Extended Play" he got no lesser emcees than Raekwon, and Black Thought with young Joey Bada$$ spitting HEAT over a beautiful backdrop of chopped female vocals and graceful keys. Tariq absolutely MURDERS this... "Extended Play" is out June 18 on Duck Down Records.

[Mixtape] PETER ROSENBERG x ECKO UNLIMITED Presents "New York Renaissance"

Peter Rosenberg knows good music and how to put a dope mixtape, that has been proven time and time again. His latest endeavor is in collaboration with Ecko Unltd called "The New York Renaissance", featuring some of the finest hip-hop artists that New York currently got to offer; you'll see names like Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, A$AP Rocky, Flatbush Zombies, Homeboy Sandman, and more, with production from cats such as Oddisee, Harry Fraud, and Dante Ross to name the more interesting. Check it out, there's definitely a bunch of bangers on here, though it's not, at least for me, the best front-to-back listen. Peep it below via DatPiff.

[Video] Joey Bada$$ - "Unorthodox"

Last month Joey Bada$$ premiered his collaboration with the legendary DJ Premier, "Unorthoox", as a free single. The slamming track has now been given the visual treatment; inspired by the art of Evan Hecox, we get to follow animated versions of Joey, Preem and Pro Era through the Brooklyn streets. The video is directed by Coodie and Chike... So far the best Premier beat of the year!

This was posted a few days ago on the web, but I didn't watch it til' this morning actually. Pete Rock teaming up in the studio with Joey Bada$$, who's been delivering some badass shit this past year, sounds like music in my ears; which of course it is haha. Remember Joey dropped a video like this prior to the release of his collaboration with DJ Premier, "Unorthodox", and we all know how that one turned out. He's a skilled emcee who's still gonna grow a lot more, and an album with production like the beat heard in the video, "Unorthodox", "Funky Ho's" with Lord Finesse, and other more recent cuts like "Underground Airplay", count me in for a purchase if it gets the vinyl treatment.

Joey Bada$$ is the first emcee to bring it on a Preem heater this year, and the result is as dope as one could hope. I wanted to wait til' the actual track dropped, so I didn't post it but there was a nice session video the week before or so . I have replaced the original radio rip with the official single in CDQ and with artwork, as so often when it comes to DJ Premier posts, many thaks to the DJPB for beig first in place as always!

Brooklyn representative Joey Bada$$ is only seventeen years old, but is most def a promising cat whose love for the golden era hip-hop shine through. His debut mixtape is titled "1999" and features, amongst other styles, mellow, jazz-infected sample based music, full of heavy basslines and Fender Rhodes melodies. The latest single from the young emcee is produced by none other than Lord Finesse, and is titled "Funky Ho's".
