[EP] CAROLINA DIRTY - "New Girl in Town"

Hip-Hop has definitely always been a man's world, so it's always appreciated when a hardspitting woman come along and really bring that gutter shit. For Carolina Dirty's first EP "New Girl in Town" she takes the help of the powerful duo of Amir & Spectac (with Spectac providing two ill guest verses, and Amir producing five of the EP's six cuts). But don't be fooled into Think that Carolina hasn't payed her dues; originally honing her skill together with Illegal's Mr. Malik at a Young age. She kept struggling and came close to signing with Death Row together with Malik, and a potential deal with TLC's Left-Eye. The hard work has obviously paid off, and if you want to hear a beautiful voice spit sick lyrics over smooth but knocking beats. Thanks to KevinNottingham. 

 

Spectac & Amiri - "Make it Mellow"

"Make it Mellow" is the latest single from emcee/producer duo Spectac & Amiri's "Soul Beautiful" album that dropped back in April. Amiri's mellow but thumping groove brings out inspiring vocals from Spectac that is as good an example as any of what you'll find on the LP. Already available on CD, digital and stream, word is that you'll soon be able to find "Soul Beautiful" on 12" LP so keep your eyes open.

Spectac & Shakim - "Shine"

Back in February, the emcee/producer duo Spectac & Shakim released their very tight album as a team called "For The People" that I have a feeling a lot of people still unfortunately are sleeping on. If you have yet to check out the album, peep the new promotional album single "Shine", a nice feel good joint featuring South Carolina spitter Fat Rat Da Czar and Atlanta rapper Rogue. [ALBUM] Spectac & Shakim - "For The People"

Only a couple of days ago, Kevin Nottingham introduced me to the MC/DJ duo Spectac & Shakim and their upcoming album "For The People". I then posted the mindblowing single "Emancipation" which really grabbed my attention, and as the LP is released today via HiPNOTT Records, DJBooth gives heads a chance to stream the entire album for free which you can hear below. "For The People" follows the same formula of socially conscious and well-written lyrics over soul-sampling production that allows you to drift away in the same way as the preceeding singles. Spectac & Shakim - "Emancipation"

Tomorrow the highly underrated lyricist Spectac returns with his official sophomore retail album "For The People", a collaboration with equally good producer Shakim. Together they create an album for HiPNOTT Recors full of conscious rhymes over sample-based and often melancholic sounding beats. The intro track "Emancipation" shows off an amazig chemistry, sampling Chicago's classic "Baby Please Don't Go", while Spectac drops thought-provoking lines like "You know the gangbang, bloods, and crippin'; a shame when the graveyard is a playground for children". Had I not ordered so many records yesteray, I would place an order on this album right away over @ UGHH.
