Back in early 2010 I stumbled across a pretty damn stupid ill EP by emcee Stoneface and producer BP, two representatives of the Gem Starr moment (Black Market Militia stand up!). BP's soulful golden age-esque sound has formed a valuable platform for artists such as Tragedy Khadafi, Timbo King, Shyheim, William Cooper, Killah Priest, Nature, Cappadonna, Masta Killa, and even RZA, amongst others. Stoneface hasn't really done very much from what I know but he's definitely a talented emcee with a lot to say as proved by his previous EP, "BP Presents... Stoneface", which I strongly recommend. "Illadelph Threat", which you hear above, is a loose track from the vaults in a series of previously unreleased songs that BP unleashes every Monday. The previous songs in the installment features William Cooper / Cooper and 9th Prince respectively. Check them out below.

AWON & PHONIKS - "Natural High"
Since I first stumbled across his chilled out but hard hitting jazzy boom bap excursions last year, I've quickly became a fan of producer-on-the-rise Phoniks. His past works include excellent remix projects such as "Autumn in New York" and its follow-up "Summer Nights". Equally impressive is his collaboration project with Awon and Dephlon in the full-length "Dephacation". Now Awon and Phoniks is about to take us on another dope project to kick back too, at least if the first single "Natural High" is any indication of what to expect. The EP, titled "Matte Black", which will be released soon enough, so stay tuned for more info so press play above and enjoy the smooths sound of these guys chemistry.
[Album] DIAMOND D - "The Diam Piece"
On the day of this albums official release I posted the official Spotify link, but now all y'all heads who don't fuck with Spotify are able to stream the entire album through Diamond's official YouTube page. I had this album about a month before its release, meaning I've given it a large amount of spins beforehand, and as I said in my previous posts some friends to me said they were quite dissapointed with the release, as well as some forum posts I've seen, and to me I am absolutely flabbergasted by this. Even still this album is growing with each listen, save for a few weaker tracks like the Black Rob joint, the Grand Daddy IU joint and one or two others, but overall this album is without a doubt one of the best of the year for me and a definite purchase. If you haven't copped this yet, or if you haven't heard it be sure to press play and if you're feeling it head over to UGHH, iTunes or HHV to order a copy in the format of your choice. TURN IT UP!!
[EP + Video] ZION I - "Liberations"
Underground duo Zion I has been dropping a lot of dope music for years, so a new EP from them is of course always welcome. I'm a little late on this as I totally missed out on this, but just got an e-mail about their new video for the album cut "Get Urs", a heavy posse cut featuring Sadat X, Opio, Mr. Lif, Deuce Eclipse and Kev Choice. While making this post I realized that Zion recently dropped a new Extended Play as a digital release, which you can stream or download for free via Bandcamp so be sure to check that one out.
THE ARSONISTS - "The Session" / "Halloween"
The Arsonists, the rugged New York crew that released albums like "Date of Birth" and "As The World Burns" between 1999 and 2000, and consisting of Freestyle, D-Stroy, Q-Unique, Kinetic, Jise One, and Swel. They dropped a lot of underground heat through the years, especially in the early to mid-'90s before their semi-retirement as a group. Lately, with a signing to Redefinition Records, some equally potent 7" singles and loose tracks have started popping off, which of course is very welcome. Their latest release is a 7" single featuring two rare, early joints that was originally released on Bobbito's excellent Fondle 'Em Records. Being that these joints was released a good while back, they are of course up on YouTube so be sure to take a trip down memory lane and be sure that that volume is turned all the way up! Spotted @ EgoTripLand, so props on the find guys! The record will be released on Get On Down Records and is being released on October 14 so get your pre-order on..
DURAG DYNASTY - "BioDegradable Haters"
Last year LA emcees Planet Asia, Killer Been and Tri-State joined forces with Alchemist to release their highly acclaimed self-titled debut. Now the trio is back and is planning the release of a brand new EP set for a December release. The new single from the project is another banger from the trio produced by Dirty Diggz, and featuring Killa Kalli, called "Biodegradable Haters". Turn it up and stay tuned for more info as we gets closer to the release date because this one GOES!

CORMEGA Ft. INSPECTAH DECK / ROCK MARCIANO / SADAT X / LORD JAMAR - "Industry - Deluxe Remix"
Cormega and Large Professor once again rounds up some of the greatest emcees of all time for a remix of "Industry". They actually revealed the line-up for this remix around the time for the release of "Mega Philosophy" in an interview with XXL (very good read), so I've been eagerly awaiting this banger and it does not dissapoint. If you still haven't grabbed 'Mega's latest it's not too late to support the movement - grab @ iTunes, UGHH or HHV. Also the vinyl edition is being repressed and will be available for purchase again on October 17.

[Out Now] K-DEF / THE 45 KING - "Back to the Beat"
K-Def and Mark The 45 King collaborating on a full beat batch album in 2014? Sounds fucking great to me! "Back to the Beat" is out now on cassette and LP via Redefinition Records and sees the two legendary producers team up for the creation of eleven new instrumentals to bop your head to. I haven't had the chance to check it out yet but its described as an instrumental exhibition that features the two trading ideas, while their respective roles are told as The 45 King being the leader of the show with K-Def being his lead soloist (and the A&R). Digital versions will follow on October 7.
FAT JOE DA GANGSTA - Radio Promos for DJ Red Alert
I'm a big fan of Fat Joe's first two albums, perhaps not so much the writing and delivery as the overall vibe, the hunger in Joe's performance and of course the production supplied mainly by Diamond D. While checking out an old interview with Diamond he mentioned that Fat Joe had approached him to hook him up with studio time and the musical relationship took off from there. He said that the first thing they recorded together and put out were a couple of radio promos for DJ Red Alert that got crazy love and helped Da Fat Gangsta get his record deal. I had never heard these tracks before (and especially the later one, which also features the first recorded apperance by Armageddon, is basically a full song) and as I'm always eager to check out some D.I.T.C. ish I had to go check for them. Thanks to YouTube users McJazzyA and WilizmEnt we're able to hear both of these thrilling tunes so press play and crank it up.
FLYING LOTUS - "Never Catch Me" (Ft. Kendrick Lamar)
While Flying Lotus definitely held his own before it, with "Until the Quiet Comes" I felt that he really created a mesmerizing masterpiece of an album that defies labeling while taking the listener on a sonical journey through the depths of his or her mind. Obviously the follow-up LP, "You're Dead", is therefore highly anticipated around here and as I finally was able to give it is first spin I can say that I'm again very impressed. The album is really, really good and blends the atmosphere and genre-bending inventiveness of "The Quiet" while leaning even heavier towards an experimentation of jazz vibes - something I'm more than fine with. Check out the Hiro Murai directed video for the 1st single "Never Catch Me", featuring Mr. Kendrick Lamar on vocas. Tomorrow you'll be able to stream the album on FlyLo's official web page where you'll also find links to purchase the proejcts, so be sure to support the movement!
