FAT JOE / BIG PUN / NAS / RAEKWON / JADAKISS - "John Blaze" [Original Mix]

Just an old classic for any music purists that might've missed this gem before. This is the original mix of "John Blaze", the blazing posse cut from Fat Joe's third (and last truly dope) album "Don Cartagena", recorded somewhere between '97 and early '98.  This demo version features a different, very scaled down beat that makes sure all the attention is kept on the immaculate wordplay of these five heavyweight lyricists. What's really interesting is the different Esco verse that sets off the session. The video up top is of course the music video for the album version while the original demo mix, ripped from a DJ Clue tape, is available to download. Boaz is a Pittsburg emcee who released his debut album "The Audiobiography" in 2009. This Tuesday's he's getting his sophomore on, with the release of "Intuition" which features production and guest spots from the likes of !llmind, Jadakiss, Styles P, Junior Reid, and Larry Fisherman. For the !llmind produced single "Like This", Boaz has unveiled two remixes - one representing the West Coast and featuring Crooked I, Murs and Fashawn, and now the East Coast remix which sees Boaz getting busy together with Oddisee, Termanology & Vinny Radio. PAPOOSE x ICE-T x JADAKISS x JIM JONES - "6 AM"

Over a seriously infected thumping bassline, pounding drums and the occassional cuts and sax breakdown, Papoose rounds up some of the most legendary New Yori emcees (Pap, Ice-T and Jadakiss) from different eras in the game for a tribute to Ice-T's '87 classic "6 N The Morning" from "Rhyme Pays". I only took a quick listen and unless I somehow managed to miss his verse, it seems that Ice-T is only making a cameo in the video which is of course a dissapointment. No matter what, I can get with this powerhouse cut and you know that Pap and Jada (almost) always delivers. Whatcha think?

Wu-Block - "Stick Up Kids"

The hardest joint yet from the Wu-Block album is here! An unmastered demo version of "Stick Up Kids" (labeled as "Stick 'Em Up") was released about a week ago, which is proof of what an amazing difference proper mixing and studio tweaking will do. Sheek Louch, Ghostface and Jadakiss gets busy over a pounding 808 drum beat, old school style. The full album drops on October 9, which is something of a mystery considering that neither iTunes, Amazon or any of the other usual sites got it up for pre-order yet. You can purchase "Stick Up Kids" and the previous official single "Union Square" via iTunes though!

Sonnie Carson / Jadakiss / Buckwild - "Willis"

Jadakiss joins rapper Sonnie Carson on "Willis", a single from the latters upcoming debut album "Flight #2012". This shit is pretty dope, but what do you expect when it's Buckwild who's behind the boards?! The beat kinda gives me a similiar vibe to the masterpiece he did with Cormega called "A Thin Line". Thx to fellow DITC head FasterBlade for the heads up on this!

Madlib Returns w. More Medicine

So you thought Volume #12 concluded The Medicine Show that The Beat Konducta has hit us with on a relatively regular basis? Well think again my friends because Madlib and Stones Throw got one more installment and a monstrous box set to go out with a bang with. "Medicine Show No. 13: Black Tape" continues where part 12, "Raw Medicine", left off - a continous 60 minutes mix of exclusive Madlib remixes featuring a host of "some of rap's finest, half-best, brilliant and borderline-retarded MC's". The album will be available from the usual suspects on February 28. Head over to Stones Throw for more info about the album, see the cover and more. You can check out the song "Rappcats" from the CD at the bottom of the page featuring verses from DOOM and Jadakiss.

As if a new remix tape from 'Lib wasn't enough, Stones Throw is finally releasing the complete "Medicine Show" series in a sweet box-set titled "The Brick" (see pic at the top) including all thirteen CDs with their respective booklets. To learn more about the box and the respective entires in the series, check out the MMS page @ Stones Throw; shipping is expected March 27, 2012. This box is great news for me as I was hoping all along they would release something like this when the series was finished since the only album I bought was the first one that featured Guilty Simpson. Let's just hope the price is reasonable, although I must admit I have my doubts.
