[Video] MONEY BO$$ INC. - "Blam Blam"

In 2006 UK production duo The P Brothers, who even as outsiders create a more New York-esque hardcore type of hip-hop than the majority of their American counterparts,, released their true debut album (following several EP:s called "The Bronx Experience" vol 1-5) and producing several tracks for Sadat X. While workng with X they also came in contact with long time associates of his, Bo$$ Money, p.k.a. Money Boss Players. I absolutely love rough street hop and few producers make that sound come alive better than The P Brothers, and few groups make it more uncompromising and raw than Eddie Cheeba, Tray Bag, and occassional member Minnesota, whether they called Bo$$ Money, Money Bo$$ Inc., Money Boss Players, or Hy Tymes. Back in the '90s when they released their "lost" classic LP "Ghetto Chronicle Daily" (along with several sought-after 12":s) the group also included Lord Tariq and Minnesota as full time members but more recently, and with the name change to Bo$$ Money, the crew have been slimmed down to a duo. This haven't hurt their music at all however, as they released 2006:s "Consignment" which featured several neckbreakers, along with apperances on several tracks with Sadat X, Junior MAFIA, and Show/DITC ("The Movement"). I've been meaning to do a compilation on these guys for so long its ridicilous, unfortunately I lost my entire harddrive when I switched computers but I'll try to get there.

The P Brothers album containted no less than four tracks exclusively featuring Bo$$ Money, all of them being masterpieces. And though it's perhaps a little late in the game, Cheeba and Tray have recorded and released a music video for the violent roughness that is "Blam Blam (For Nottingham)". The reason it is being released now is because MB is returing as a unit for another project. The accompanying YouTube comments read "The Bronx Boys are back! New mixtape and album coming soon" which is of course great news. I can't wait to ceck this out. [Comp Stream] DJ OGee - "All Hip Hop" (w. OC / Sadat X / Bo$$ Money / FT / Black Rob)

As my friends and readers of The Lost Tapes blog are well aware of I've been a huge D.I.T.C. fans for years - loving both their immaculate microphone skills and the dark, sample heavy sound supplied by the producers of the crew. Besides the nine core members there are certain affiliates that were pretty much just as dope, though much less prolific, such as emcees Big Pun, Milano, and Party Arty, and producers Amed and DJ Ogee. Both of the latter especially intrigued me since their catalouges were never very extensive but everything they did release were pure quality; no exceptions. 

DJ Ogee is best known for his work with OC, who he came up with, producing several tracks on his albums between 1994 and 2007. But he also produced stand-out cuts for fellow NYC legends such as Sadat X, Organized Konfusion, De La Soul, Street Smartz, Pharoahe Monch, and Big Punisher. Aside from the two exclusives from OC's "Hidden Gems" in 2007, Ogee has been very quiet since 2000 when he laced Big Pun with the memorable "Laughin' At You" for "Yeeeaah Baby". I have most of his produced tracks on either CD or vinyl and have long been meaning to do a compilation of his work, but more than that I have been trying to find information about whatever happened to this super talented cat whose tracks were always among the top joints on an LP. But there were little luck in that department - it was almost as he had dissappeared entirely. Luckily,, a month ago he opened a Soundcloud account where he has been steadily posting not only most of his classic record placements, but also several rare and never before released cuts, so you can understand my hype!

This is truly a treat for all us true D.I.T.C. heads, and Ogee has even made a 65 minutes compilation playlist of all material he has released so far on his Soundcloud. This includes besides a majority of his placements, also two previously unreleased tracks by Sadat X and Bo$$ Money, three by OC (one recorded in 1992; one recorded in 2007 for the "Hidden Gems" sessions - though set to a brand new new Ogee beat; one from 1995); one by FT (Street Smartz) from 2006; one by Black Rob from the same year; and a couple of other tracks by some lesser known emcees. Together this is a brilliant listen, whether you're already well aquainted with the music of Gary Scott or are completely new to his stuff. So press play, lay back comfortably and TURN IT UP!!

12" Throwback(s): JUGGAKNOTS / M.B.P.

This two vinyl only releases quickly became out-of-print and rarities, which is a shame since they are both straight up incredible. The first one is from Money Bo$$ Players, with their extremely hardcore street'mini album "Ghetto Chronicle Daily". This was back when underrated producer Minnesota handled the majority of the beats and was a full time member of the group, as was brillaint emcee Lord Tariq together with Tray Bag and Eddie Cheeba - all repping the Bronx to the fullest with that gritty New York sound we all love. The extened EP/features no less than seven songs that hold up all the way through and with track titles like "Death Of A Salesman", "Used to Fear Death (But Not Anymore)", etc. it's easy to see why no major label wanted to push this and the group kinda fell into obscurity. This was until two of the original members reunited as the duo Bo$$ Money and in a way became DITC affiliates. Appearing on their compilation "The Movement" besides dropping their rare solo album, "Consignment", which I strongly recommend, They also appeared on pretty much every Sadat X albums between 1996 and 2009 and their work on the UK's The P Brothers album, "The Gas". That album was some of the sickest, releast shit released in 2008. Come to think about it I need to do a proper Bo$$ Money compilation to wake you out of your coma. The "Ghetto Chronicle Daily" rip below is lifted from a white label vinyl press so the sound quality ain't all that but it's definitely worth hearing. The second incredible, but sadly forgotten, and by noq is out-of-print. The release I want to focus on is the original Juggaknots album that was released in 1996 on 'Fondle 'Em Records, and if I recall right that was Bobbito's short-lived record label who also put out DOOM's first album. The self-titled mini abum features 9 songs that all hold a very high quality and this was before lady Heroine had joined the group so they were still just a duo with Breezly Breewin and his brother BMS. There's plenty of underground masterpieces on here, such as "Trouble Man" (my favorite which samples an absolutely amazing piece of McCoy Tyners piano solo from John Coltrane's "My Favorite Things"), "Jivetalk", "Clear Blue Skies", fuck it the whole album is great. They re-released the album in 2002 but with 11 additional songs (!!) and the original sequencing switched up so i figured to bring y'all the original debut  release of Juggaknots. All tracs are full, CDQ editions of the elevenn song sounds great and If you're listening to both EP'syou got no less than 60 minutes of classic boombap. Enjoy!
