Jazz sensation Robert Glasper dropped his highly inspired "Black Radio" project together with his Experiment band earlier this year. The last week has seen the original sessions giving room for new interpretations of some of the stand outs as Glasper been sending out about a joint a day. Featuring remixes by the pianist/composer himself, Pete Rock, ?uestlove, Georgia Anne Muldrow and 9th Wonder, the six track set is now available to experience in full... This one is a great suprise that is warmly welcomed by all of us that enjoyed the album that preceeded it; well done Glasper!

Robert Glasper Experiment - "Black Radio Recovered" EP

Blue Note's new flagship artist, the pianist and composer Robert Glasper is by far one of the most interesting things to happen in the jazz world at the moment. For his fourth album, "Black Radio", Glasper has left the more traditional piano trio vintage jazz music for an eclectic fusion mix of hard bop, jazz fusion, hip-hop, soul and R&B. Now that the full-lengther is starting to sink in, Glasper invites some of his favorite producers to reinvision some of the cuts from the album for "Black Radio Recovered Remix EP". With a total of six tracks, this week will see Glasper release one cut through his Soundcloud page each day, culminating with the non-album track (although the original was featured on an earlier album from the pianist) "Dillatude #2" on Monday 8.

Check out half the EP below, and the other half will be posted on the date mentioened above. The tracks released so far include a Pete Rock remix of the Yasiin Bey/Mos Def assisted title track; a 9th Wonder version of the Erykah Badu featured "Afro Blue" (possibly my favorite joint from the original LP), which also includes a brand new verse from Phonte; and last but not least Georgia Anne Muldrow's envisioning of "The Consequece of Jealousy" with vocals by Meshell Ndegoeocelle. Be on the lookout for remixes by ?uestlove and Glasper himself featuring Black Milk. Gotta love stuff like this that basically comes out of nowhere!!

[LP Stream] Muldrow & Madlib - "SEEDS"

Today is a great day for fans of vintage soul music with a heavy hip-hop twist as Canadian Exclaim! has obtained the rights to preview the entire "Seeds" album an entire week before its official release. If you've been living under a rock the last month or so, "Seeds" is unique soul singer Georgia Anne Muldrow's new album, fully produced by none other than Madlib. The two singles, "Seeds" and "Husfriend" were both very promising and as I'm listening to the album in it's entirety, now I'm more than satisfied with what I'm hearing both from the smoky funk/hip-hop/jazz fusion production and Muldrow's addictive 70's influenced vocals. The CD and digital download formats officially drops on March 27. However there's no word on a vinyl release yet and not dropping this on wax would be a true shame, but hopefuly it will arrive a little later as is often the case these days. With the eleven tracks clocing in at only 35 minutes. the album is very short so it would be great if the final retail release features a bonus track or two.

Madlib's production on "Seeds" >>>> Madlib's production on the entire "Madlib Medicine Show" if you ask me. Actually kind of made me remember why I fell in love with his music in the first place and I'ma go out on a limb and say that this might very well be George Anne Muldrow's finest album yet as well, which is saying a whole lot since she is one of the most interesting and most original soul singers doing it right now!

[Album Stream] dRes - "Wild Produce"

dRes is a up-and-coming producer from Philly who's starting to make a name for himself and is not to be confused with the genius of the same name from classic hip-hop group Black Sheep. dRes is definitely responsible for some hot productions filled with distorted horns, eerie vocal samples and some smooth rhythm that's heavy on the percussion. For his first album, which is free nontheless, he enlists some microphone help from the likes of Count Bass D, Homeboy Sandman, L.E.G.A.C.Y., Median, Truck North, Guilty Simpson, Tanya Morgan, Declaime and Georgia Anne Muldrow ro name some. Even if it's not up your alley, at least give it a shot below so check it out.

Afro Blue Seeds from the SOUL

New singles by the Soul queen and the princess, or Erykah Badu and Georgia Anne-Muldrow as they are also referred to as. Both songs have a few days on the neck by now as I was supposed to post them earleir but whatever. These are both definitely worth your attention, so enjoy.

It has been revealed that Georgia Anne-Muldrow's next album will be a collaboration with Mr. Madlib which will make for some cool ass music for sure. Previously, most of the soulstress' output has been self-produced, given that she's a beast on the sampler herself, so this is a special ocassion. The album is to be titled "Seeds" and the first single is also the title track which will be released on February 14 (in what formats i'm not sure). Look for "Seeds" in stores on March 27.

Not handling production and focusing strictly on the lyrics and vocals was a very different experience for me.  It was as if I walked into someone else’s world and built a hut.  But I’m very proud of the hut we built and am excited about the release.”- Georgia Anne-Muldrow

Georgia Anne Muldrow & Madlib - "Seeds"

Pianist and producer Robert Glasper will release his new album "Black Radio" this year. For the first single he hooked up with Erykah Badu who provides this jazzy banger with her great voice and trademark vocal style. The song in question is a composition by Mongo Santamaria called "Afro Blue", a track that Coltrane played quite a bit during his last years in the physical. Check out more about Glasper and the upcoming album @ his official site and peep the joint below.

"Erykah loves flutes, so I arranged this song with flutes in it. This song was recorded during the time she was on the Rock The Bells tour. Luckily she was able to come in and do the song.”  - Robert Glasper
