[MMG Comp] APOLLO BROWN / MURS + QUELLE CHRIS

As I reported earlier one of today's finest underground labels, Mello Music Group, is gearing up to release an album/compilation this month showcasing the majority of their finest roster. It turns out that MMG has decided to release two volumes simultaneously; splitting the two projects into one featuring more of an avant-garde route, while Volume 2 will focus on more boom bap heavy hardcore hip-hop shit. "Volume 1: Polysonic Flows" includes exclusive joints from the likes of L'Orange, Oddisee, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Quelle Chris, Mr. Lif, Castle, Has-Lo, yU, and more. "Volume 2: Today's Mathematics" is created around new cuts by heavy htiters such as Apollo Brown, Gensu Dean, Fredro Starr, Audible Doctor, Murs, Verbal Kent, Blacastan, 14KT, Wise Intelligent, Def Dee, Rapper Big Pooh, and others. Both collections will be released on January 28, so check back then for a full album stream right here @ The Lost Tapes. [Album] QUELLE CHRIS - "Ghost @ The Finish Line"

Quelle Chris has impressed me a lot with much of the material he has put in the last two years, and though I haven't had a time to listen to his first official album since he signed with MMG I bet this is gonna be absolutely bonkers. The entire album is up for stream, so be sure to check it out below. Especially with guest features and production backing up Chris' immaculate street style is legends like Alchemist, Oh No, Black Milk, Chris Keys, Denmark Vesssey, Guilty Simpson, and Quelle himself (who has proven to be a very capable producer in his own right). With the peeps involved, this could very well be his finest albums to date; if I find the time I will definitely write a review for this one once I've heard it in full!

[EP] Knxwledge Ft. Blu / Quelle Chris / Declaime - "Rap Jointz"

Knxwledge is not a producer I am familiar with, but listening to this there's no question that he's a very talented producer that display a great chemistry with the (almsot) always trustowrthy Blu and the other emcees featured here. Here the producer releases a very captivating EP with vocal help from Blu, Quelle Chris and Declaime - all interesting guys that sound great over this production. Above you can watch the slamming Blue assisted video for "nonthesame", and at the bottom you can stream the entire thing for free. Good news is that this is just a warm-up for Knxwledge who's intending to release his full length soon to be here full length LP "Kauliflower", so definitely be on the lookout for that one. Aite, so you know what you need to do with this EP  ... Quelle Chris Ft. Tanya Morgan, Fresh Daily & Cavalier - "Greene Eyes"

Quelle Chris' draws new, well deserrved, attention to the posse cut "Greene Eyes" from his awfully entertaining "Niggas is Men" project. Joining Chris on the mic are Brooklynites Tanya Morgan, with Fresh Daily and Cavalier. The aforementioned LP that this is from will be available on wax in early June, but for now it's already out on CD. Head over to UGHH and take your pick!

[Mixtape] HOUSE SHOES x BIG - "Dreams"

Legendary Detroit DJ and producer House Shoes'' "Dreams: B.I.G. Re-Imagined" is a little different from the usual BIG tribute. Rather than rushing it out for a 9:th release, the initial idea came to Shoes on that date and since then he has been on work on the project. The initial idea was to send out a bunch of classic BIG accapellas to a bunch of his producer homies, resulting in fresh takes by innovative producers such as Nottz, Wajeed, Khrysis, Quelle Chris, Nameless, 14KT, Brenk Sinatra, and of course House Shoes himself. I'm usually not that fond of new interpretations of the true classics, but Shoes did a real great job here and there's a lot of music on it that deserves to be heard, so make sure to press play ASAP!

Quelle Chris is back and repping it hard with his new street album on Mello Music Group, "Niggas is Men". The idea here is to set things up for the release of a "proper" LP on the label later this year, but this rugged collection is sounding like a damn ill LP on its own to me. Production is handled by Quelle Chris, Messiah Musik and Sifu with guest vocals laced by the likes of Tanya Morgan, and Denmark Vassey, its safe to say that you need this one in your headphones ASAP. Make sure to grab it while you can, because the free download is up til' Friday night ONLY; after that you'll still be able to grab it via digital retailers like iTunes.
