[DJ Set] DJ Jazzy Jeff @ The Do Over L.A. (5.19.2013)

There's no question that DJ Jazzy Jeff is not only one of the most legendary spinners in the game, but also one of the very best. Mr. Townes has posted his 1 hour plus DJ set that went down in LA's The Do-Over club roughly a month ago, and there's nothing but fire on here; Everything from hip-hop classics, to forgotten R&B jams, soul and funk bangers, the occassional pop groove, you name it. Jeff definitely know how to get the crowd going, and for this particular set he shares the stage with Skillz who perform his Master of Ceremony duties with grace, acting mainly as a hype man but spitting the occassional exclusive verse here and there! And like that wasn't enough The Do Over have also uploaded full DJ sets of DJ Rob Swift and DJ Rhettmatic for your enjoyment, so if you got a few hours free turn in, tune up, and prepare yourself for a musical journey!

[Mixtape] TREK LIFE x RHETTMATIC - "Hometown Heroes"

Trek Life's new album "Hometown Foreigner" with producer Duke Westlake is out and available now, which I'm sure some of y'all caught when I posted the stream last week. If you're still trying to catch up on Trek's musical journey, or just want to spend another hour with fat beats and slick rhymes in your ear, DJ Rhettmatic of The Beat Junkies' has put together a knocking mixtape called "Hometown Heroes". This was originally pressed up on very limited cassette, but now we get a chance to hear the digital version for free via Mello Music Group. If you want the cassette, it's still available as a bonus item when you purchase "Hometown Foreigner" @ UGHH.

Raekwon x DJ Babu - "Keep it Politics"

Around an with the releasess of "Cuban Linx 2", "Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang" and this year's free "Unexpected Victory", Raekwon The Chef  seemed to pop up just about everywhere; it hardly went a week without at least one Rae cameo. Now, I think it's been chilling on the insane amount of recording it seems, which makes this collaboration with the always superb Beat Junkie/Dilated People, DJ Babu, even more interesting. That they both give very impressive performances doesn't exactly hurt either.

"Keep It Politics" is the third single to be released so far from the upcoming compilation "Closed Sessions Vol. 2", you cna check out the two previous singles and the album trailer/info @ the official site.

Video: CROWN ROYAL's "Say What?!"

Crown Royal is a project that teams up the still heavily underrated Michigan emcee Buff1 with cutmaster DJ Rhettmatic of The World Famous Beat Junkies. The video above that dropped a couple of days ago gives the visual treatment to "Say What", a choice cut from their self-titled 2010 album on the A-Side Worldwide label. You gotta love Buff1's homage to Tribe in his opening bars and adding Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill) on live percussion is a nice touch. Go ahead and order the "Crown Royale" LP in case you've been sleeping.
