[Album] DON MIGUEL - "Waiting For Carmine"

Don Miguel is an up and coming producer from New York who just came out with his album "Waiting For Carmine". Consisting of fifteen tracks sporting a vintage NYC hip-hop sound with a lot of mesmerizing piano samples, vocal samples, thumping rhythm tracks and ill turntable work. I came across the LP due to the amazing "Merciless Manuscript" single which features no lesser emcees than Guilty Simpson and Percee P (which I strongly recommend you listen to whether or not you intend to listen through the LP) but as I'm listening to the album now I'm really pleasantly suprised. Other guests include Blacastan, Boldy James, Rapsody, Rashad, Big Remo, ST. 2 Lettaz, and more. Purchase the digital album @ Bandcamp.

[Video] RAPSODY - "The Man"

I'm not gonna front I always liked Rapsody since I first heard her, but she was never a favorite of mine or anything like that which is why only selected tracks from her discography has been posted on The Lost Tapes. However, having blasted the shit out of Kendrick Lamar's excellent new album and being blown away by Rapsody's verse on "Complexion". She really held her own against K.Dot as one of only two guest emcees appearing on the LP, so I feel like I need to check out more from Rapsody, or what do you think?

Eric G. does a great job on producing Rapsody's new single "The Man" (also featuring singer Heather Victoria), which appeared on her "Beauty and The Beast" EP (available @ iTunes) which originally dropped October 7 last year. The moody visuals fits the atmospheric track and raps' heartfelt lyrics perfectly. JAMLA in the house!

PETE ROCK / RAPSODY / LECRAE - "Be Inspired"

Although it's not a new Pete Rock production, The Soul Brother joins Jamla artists Rapsody and Lecrae for the soulful Khrysis! laced "Be Inspired". This is another leak from the upcoming Jamla compilation "Jamla is the Squad" which is hosted by Statik Selektah. L'Orange & Stik Figa - "Before Midnight" [Billie Holiday Remix]

Oh shit, this is a real fucking dope jam for all my Lost Tapes fam right here! Talented duo L'Orange & Stik Finga dropped their album "City Under the Sun" (click to check a few tracks and/or order the CD) this past October 15, via the quality power house Mello Music Group. L'Orange brings that real grimey production with immaculate drum production most of us love while Stik Finga is a thoughtful, sometimes provocative, but for the majority of the time very skilled emcee. With the dust not even settled from the recent album, the duo brings out a brand new remix of the somber Rapsody assisted LP cut "Before Midnight", calling it the Billy Holiday Remix due to the large amounts of samples from the gospel goddess over L'Orange's pounding rhythm track. This all highlights the verses of Rapsody and Stik Figa even more, and as an added bonus emcee Castle joins in the cast exclusively for this remix. Definitely one to check out!

Rapsody x 9th Wonder - "Mass Hysteria"

I just posted Dynasty's album which undoubtedly sound very dope, and another of the illest up and coming femcees is definitely the Jamla supported Rapsody who's been dropping plenty of impressive mixtapes, most recently .... . Now she's dropping another single with one of her few main producers, the always trustworthy 9th Wonder who's chemistry together with Rapsody has been shown over and over again; especially on the recent "She Got Game" mixtape. Rapsody, rightfully one of the fastest rising female emcees on the underground scene, made a lot of heads turn with her free "She Got Game" mixtape which boosted a lot of solid productions from mentors 9th Wonder, and Khrysis, with additional beats coming from Eric G., Mr. Porter, E.Jones, and DJ Premier. The latter's production "Kingship" was also the lead single, which is why it now finally get the video treatment in a warm black & white shoot showcasing the MC/producer getting busy at what they do best, respectively. Since signing with 9th Wonder's Jamla imprint, Rapsody has quickly become one of the leading ladies of the hip-hop scene with mixtapes like "Rapsody Replay" and "For Everything" to name a few. Now the North Carolina emcee is hooking up with DJ Drama for "She Got Game", her own installment in the Gangsta Grillz mixtape series which hits the net on Tuesday. She usually shines over bangers by 9th Wonder and Khrysis, but this time she's also rocking one from the impeccable DJ Premier.
