[Mixtape] BIG TWINZ - "TG1" (Ft. Raekwon, Cormega, Killah Priest, FT, Nature, Marco Polo, Alchemist....)

The hoarse voiced QB legend Big Twinz drops his new mixtape "TG1" hosed by DJ Woool (one of Killah Priest's main producers of recent years) and the tracklisting is looking super ill for the most part. I don't have time to listen to the entire thing right now but I'm checking some of the early tracks and most on-paper standouts - "Can't Get Enough" (Ft. FT, Nature; prod. by Marco Polo), "Complex" [prod. by DJ Woool], "New Infamous Mobb" (Ft. Godfather Pt. III; prod. by Sid Roams), "Big Dreams" [prod. by DJ Wool], "Bigger U Are The Harder U Fall" (Ft. Alchemist & Planet Asia), "Poison" [prod. by DJ Skizz], and "QB Allstars" (Ft. Cormega, Craig G & Nature) . Great to see the homie DJ Duke getting some shine too on "Hypnotize", also DJ Woool who has never been one of my favorites when it comes to lacing Priest sounds a lot more organic/fresh on the beats I heard here. My first conclusion is that this might very well be the best mixtape of the year so far, though of course I need to listen to it in full several tmes before making such a statement concrete. F.T. & MusicMan are STAND OUT - "Oh No"

Underground hero F.T. (of Street Smartz fame) is preparing a full-length project with producer MusicMan under the group name Stand Out. The first single from the album is this bumping cut called "Oh No" which has F.T. flexing his verbal skills over an ill Beatles based backdrop (matter of fact, The Beatles is even listed as a featured artist). Thumbs up!

I've always been a huge fan of offical Sunz of Man member Prodigal Sunn, always looking forward to his apperances and cameos; the cadence, the intendent lyriks, the immaculate breath control, unorthodox flow, and so on. His 2005 debut carried some real gems ("Brutality - The Gindz", Lovely Ladies",  "In My Life"), and his recent sophomore was a step in à good direction; it was dope, I still fel hes capable of morse.

I can't believe it's alertast been two years since The Good Sun went all in over vintage DJ Premier classics on the mixtape "Prodigal Sunn meets DJ Premier", à banker which seemed to fly righ over a lot of people's heads. Well, the mixtape still bangs and now P lets loose of a brand new set of visuals for the mixtape cut "Remains Real". Peace to Art Vanderlay for the hook-up and Enjoy!

[Comp Stream] DJ OGee - "All Hip Hop" (w. OC / Sadat X / Bo$$ Money / FT / Black Rob)

As my friends and readers of The Lost Tapes blog are well aware of I've been a huge D.I.T.C. fans for years - loving both their immaculate microphone skills and the dark, sample heavy sound supplied by the producers of the crew. Besides the nine core members there are certain affiliates that were pretty much just as dope, though much less prolific, such as emcees Big Pun, Milano, and Party Arty, and producers Amed and DJ Ogee. Both of the latter especially intrigued me since their catalouges were never very extensive but everything they did release were pure quality; no exceptions. 

DJ Ogee is best known for his work with OC, who he came up with, producing several tracks on his albums between 1994 and 2007. But he also produced stand-out cuts for fellow NYC legends such as Sadat X, Organized Konfusion, De La Soul, Street Smartz, Pharoahe Monch, and Big Punisher. Aside from the two exclusives from OC's "Hidden Gems" in 2007, Ogee has been very quiet since 2000 when he laced Big Pun with the memorable "Laughin' At You" for "Yeeeaah Baby". I have most of his produced tracks on either CD or vinyl and have long been meaning to do a compilation of his work, but more than that I have been trying to find information about whatever happened to this super talented cat whose tracks were always among the top joints on an LP. But there were little luck in that department - it was almost as he had dissappeared entirely. Luckily,, a month ago he opened a Soundcloud account where he has been steadily posting not only most of his classic record placements, but also several rare and never before released cuts, so you can understand my hype!

This is truly a treat for all us true D.I.T.C. heads, and Ogee has even made a 65 minutes compilation playlist of all material he has released so far on his Soundcloud. This includes besides a majority of his placements, also two previously unreleased tracks by Sadat X and Bo$$ Money, three by OC (one recorded in 1992; one recorded in 2007 for the "Hidden Gems" sessions - though set to a brand new new Ogee beat; one from 1995); one by FT (Street Smartz) from 2006; one by Black Rob from the same year; and a couple of other tracks by some lesser known emcees. Together this is a brilliant listen, whether you're already well aquainted with the music of Gary Scott or are completely new to his stuff. So press play, lay back comfortably and TURN IT UP!!

[Album] NUTSO & DJ LOW CUT - "In The Cut"

This has been a good summer for hardbodie hip-hop records, and here's another one that will definitely serve your ears right. I have always given props to French beat maestro DJ Low Cut as he's dropped fat project after project without ever losing a step. After several collaborations with rugged Queens' spitter Nutso, the pair felt it was time to do something more official and earlier this month they released the ten track mini album "In The Cut" which you should definitely pick up, either digitally via iTunes or grab a physical copy (CD or wax) through DJ Low Cut's Bandcamp where you can also stream the project in full! 

This is straight up HEAT to take you through any rainy day, and there's no question that DJ Low Cut and Nutso got a rare chemistry ; add features from Dirt Platoon, FT, Rasheed Chappell, AG Da Coroner, Timeless Truth, & C-Rayz Walz to that and I don't think I have to sell the idea you need to check this out any more, so press PLAY, TURN IT UP and let the HEADBANGING begin!!
