NUTSO & DIVIDED SOULS @ DJ PREMIER'S SHOW

Nutso & Divided Souls at DJ Premier #LFHQ show 2015

Our man, Jay Large put together a dope visual during our visit to DJ Premier's mixshow on SiriusXM Hip-Hop Nation called Live From HeadQCourterz and a quick spot of where it all started from for me...NuYorican Poets Cafe. Shout to Spank & Brent (Divided Souls) + LFHQ homie's Panch, Keeb, Kreepy Clown + my team - DJ Mike Duse + Ron Mills

Posted by Nutso on den 9 juni 2015
My homie Chris Moss and long time Lost Tapes contributor with his partners Brent Dixon and DJ Pain 1 that together form Divided Souls Ent. is really starting to make moves which makes me real proud of them. They recently produced one of the best records of the year with impeccable Queens emcee Nutso in his 7 track EP "Divided Soul". Nutso and the Divided Souls team was invited to the DJ Premier's legendary LiveFromHQ's show at Sirius XM to talk about the new record, freestyle, and just kick it. Nutso posted a brief clip of some of the highlights from the show, shot and edited by Jay Large for all y'all to enjoy. Check it out above and if you haven't heard the EP yet click the link above and get ready to bang your head while you let the lyricism sink in.

[EP] NUTSO - "I Plead The 5th" (2013)

With all the extreme amount of super dope material being released on a regular basis you know it's inevitable that you're gonna miss out on some really sick releases every now and then. Even this year there's some heavy releases that I've been looking forward to that I haven't even banged out yet (Cannibal Ox, Mr. Green / Malik B.). But today I noticed on my FB that the always trustworthy EgoTripLand had posted a 2013 single by severely ill Queens spitter Nutso (p/k/a Nut-Rageous) featuring Kool G Rap and Mic Geronimo (DAMN!). It turns out this is actually a track from a Bandcamp EP that Nutso released in the spring of 2013 called "I Plead The 5th". As I'm listening to the six tracks that make up the EP I am blown away by how dope this is,

"I Plead The 5th" is a collaboration with producer 5th Seal (hence the double entendre of the EP:s name) who supplies Nutso's rugged lyrics and delivery with a soulful boom bap type of sound that really does the emcee justice. I'm a sucker for the one MC/one DJ formula and the three full projects that I know from Nutso's catalouge are all done in that matter - this one, 2013's excellent collaboration with French boom bap maestro DJ Low Cut called "In The Cut" and most recently that brand new 2015 EP with the homies Divided Souls Entertainment and DJ Pain 1 ("Divided Souls") that is one of the five best albums of the year so far if you ask me. Stream the entirety of "I Plead The 5th" below via Bandcamp where you can also download a HQ Mp3 download in the digital format of your choice. Features comes from Kool G Rap, Mic Geronimo, Punchline, Wais P, Meyhem Lauren, AG Da Coroner, J-Love, and a couple of others. Satisfaction guaranteed!

HAVOC - "What I Rep" (Ft. Nutso & Sheek Louch) [Divided Souls Remix]

The homies Divided Souls Entertainment (Chris Moss, Brent Dixon, DJ Pain 1) recently fully produced one of 2015's hottest releases yet, Nutso's "Divided Soul". Now they take on "What I Rep", the Sheek Louch collaboration from Havoc's suprisingly hot "13 Reloaded" album. The Divided Souls/DJ Pain 1 remix, not too suprisingly, adds a Nutso verse to the synth and turntable heavy remix. TURN IT UP!

[EP] NUTSO - "Divided Soul"

This is BIG right here, rugged and raw street spitter Nutso, straight out of Queens, is hooking up with the production team of Divided Souls Entertainment and DJ Pain 1 (which includes Lost Tapes friend Chris Moss) for a brand new EP. Fittingly titled the "Divided Soul EP", the seven tracks featured on this blazing project brings out the best out of both Nutso and the production trio who previously has supplied amazing tracks for Chuck D and Public Enemy. This is real headnodding boom bap shit that will definitely put a smile on your face and keep your ears peaked for rewind worthy street lyrics. An extra plus comes from the large amount of scratches and turntable work being incorporated throughout the Extended Play, while Nutso is being held down by Rasheed Chappel, Blacastan, General Steele, Trae The Truth and more this is DEFINTIELY not one you want to sleep on! It's early in the year yet, but so far it's easily one of the best records released thus far.

Stream the entire project for free below, which I bet will lead to you supporting the real by either purchasing a HQ digital download from Nutso's Bandcamp or grab the CD edition from Amazon.

[Video] INNOCENT? & NUTSO - "On Our NY Shit"

From BK to QB, emcee Innocent? joins forces with the always interesting Nutso (p/k/a Nut-Rageous) for "On Our NY Shit", an absolutely blazing joint that'll have a lot of heads nodding in agreement. Well-written hardcore lyricism over soulful bliss of well-crafted sampes - complete with crackling vinyl pops, a sampled gospel hook, thumping beat and a nicely arranged string section. "On Our NY Shit" is a single from an upcoming compilation called "Killing in the Game" to be released by T.H.E.M. Recoordings and showcases several of the talents of the label and then some - stay tuned for more info on the project. Gritty New York hip-hop at it's finest; the place where hardcore is beautiful.

[Album] GRAND PAPA TRA - "Lost In New York"

Granted this baby was released almost two years ago now, but I'm sure it flew straight over a lot of hardcore hip-hop head's heads, just like it did mine. I became aware of Swizz producer Grand Papa Tra through the news that he has been enlisted by Queens veteran Royal Flush in lacing all of his forthcoming "Grand Capo LP", a beautiful teaser which can be heard here. It's clear that his affinity for that real NYC golden era boom bap sound reflects in Tra's music, and his ten track project "Lost in New York" is nothing but pure hardcore hip-hop medicine for the soul. And not only does it features quality beats but listeners are treated to on-point verses from the likes of Sadat X, Royal Flush, Mic Geronimo, Nutso, Punchline, and a few others. This is a perfect project to get aquainted with Grand Papa Tra's music before the Royal Flush album drops, and it's also available on both CD and vinyl via Tra's Bandcamp. Don't sleep!!

NUTSO Ft. Problem & Bad Lucc - "Phuk It!"

Young Queens monster Nutso has definitely been on his grind lately, most recently releasing the untouchable boom bap journey that was "In The Cut", produced by France's DJ Low Cut. Already now he's back with more music, this one's called "Phuk It!" and is another hardboiled banger which will satisfy the hardcore hip-hop heads all over the world, no question. Produced by Reef and featuring cameos from rappers Problem and Bad Lucc, this is lifted off an upcoming project called "The Western Union Mixtape" so be on the lookout for that. Stream and download for free below!

[EP/Mini LP] AG DA CORONER - "Crushed Grapes"

Brooklyn to Queens representative AG Da Coroner clearly has no intentions of letting the dope music that he's been supplying us with for the last two years. His latest addition to an already fat catalouge is the free project "Crushed Grapes", entirely produced by ATG who I have praised several times here on The Lost Tapes. The latter is progressively evolving his own hard soul based sound, filled with grinding organs, bluesy basslines and boom bap-type drums which is a perfect match for AG's rough edged voice and intense street themed lyrics. Add to that guest verses from Meyhem Lauren, M.Reck and a posse cut with Nutso, Lord Nez (in addition to appearing on two other cuts), Termanology, Realm Reality, and Spit Gemz and this is a straight up and down crazy release that will work well in holding us over until Da Coroner's official album drops.

Nutso / DJ Low Cut - "No MC Without DJ, No DJ Without MC"

Nutso and DJ Low Cut released their incredibly tight "In The Cut" a couple of months back, and if you haven't copped the vinyl yet I strongly suggest you do just that. The digital version of the album included this posse cut called "No MC Without DJ, No DJ Without MC" featuring Koron, Lambo & K-Tone with DJ Nix'on on the crossfader. Unfortunately this was never included on the wax, but Low Cut now releases it as a free download single, including both instrumental and vocal so peep that below. By the way, this track is in reality a DJ Low Cut remix of an original DJ Nice track featuring Nutso, whcih explains the bonus track treament - but definitely dope nonetheless!

[Video] DJ LOW CUT & NUTSO - "Grand Scheme"

By now you should know that whenever you see the name DJ Low Cut you should prepare yourself for some real powerhouse boom bap shit. The French producer's latest endeavour is the EP "Grand Scheme" with rugged Queens spitter Nutso; a project I strongly recommend. From that record comes "Grand Scheme", featuring Timeless Truth, with a video directed by Javier Goin. Order "In The Cut" in your choice of digital, LP or CD via Bandcamp now!

[Album] NUTSO & DJ LOW CUT - "In The Cut"

This has been a good summer for hardbodie hip-hop records, and here's another one that will definitely serve your ears right. I have always given props to French beat maestro DJ Low Cut as he's dropped fat project after project without ever losing a step. After several collaborations with rugged Queens' spitter Nutso, the pair felt it was time to do something more official and earlier this month they released the ten track mini album "In The Cut" which you should definitely pick up, either digitally via iTunes or grab a physical copy (CD or wax) through DJ Low Cut's Bandcamp where you can also stream the project in full!

This is straight up HEAT to take you through any rainy day, and there's no question that DJ Low Cut and Nutso got a rare chemistry ; add features from Dirt Platoon, FT, Rasheed Chappell, AG Da Coroner, Timeless Truth, & C-Rayz Walz to that and I don't think I have to sell the idea you need to check this out any more, so press PLAY, TURN IT UP and let the HEADBANGING begin!!

DJ Low Cut & Nutso - "Shut 'Em Down"

I'm a fan of both DJ Low Cut's production work and Queens' emcee Nutso's style, so the news of an upcoming EP/mini-LP between the two called "In The Cut" came as real pleasant news. The digital project is out via Low Cut's Bandcamp page on June 3, and features cameos from Dirt Platoon, FT, Rasheed Chappell, Smiley The Ghetto Child, C-Rayz Walz, and more (click the link above to peep the tracklist and artwork). The first single is called "Shut 'Em Down" and definitely gives a taste for more with that golden era hardcore ish!

DJ Doom & Nutso Ft. Large Pro, El Da Sensei & Tony Touch - "It's Just Begun"

To celebrate the memory of the late Jimmy Castor who passed away around this time last year, DJ Doom and talented Queen's spitter Nutso join forces in the creation of their own homage to the #1 B-Boy anthem "It's Just Begun". The funk provided by Doom is definitely right on target and the performances by Large Professor, El Da Sensei, Tony Touch and DJ Tha Boss (on the cuts) are certain to grab your attention. Blunted Astronaut Records is releasing this joint as a limited 7" single which you can purchase via the embeded link below so "hurry up and buy".

B.A.M. & M-Dot w/ Jaysaun, Nutso, Block McCloud, Blacastan & Shabaam Sahdeeq - "Visionaries"

This posse cut is fucking insane, I've warned people about DJ Low Cut before, this underground producer (who of course is behind this single) seems to have the midaz touch when it comes to bringing quality hardbodie hip-hop. And when you got a beat like this and a line-up of heavy hitters such as Jaysaun, Nutso, Shabaam Sahdeweq, Blacastan, Block McCloud, Chaundon, Tribeca and DJ Family Tyz all bringing their A-game you know you got a winner on your hands. Play this one LOUD!

"Visionairies" will appear on B.A.M. & M-Dot's upcoming mixtape which should be out by the end of this year. However, it will also make an earlier apperance on the remix album of DJ Low Cut's slamming "New York Minute". If you like what you hear, check out more of DJ Low Cut @ Bandcamp.

Nutso x Shabaam Sahdeeq x Royal Flush - "Blowing Up"

Queen's rhymer Nutso constantly drops hot shit, and he is now peparing another EP titled "Behind Bars" which should be out soon. The first leak from the project is sounding promising as hell; "Blowing Up" features fellow N.Y.C. legends Shabaam Sahdrrw and Royal Flush. Production is handled by Mac who I am totally new to, but he does a fine job providing the heat, and the turntables ishandled by Chinch33.

[Mixtape] Nutso + DJ Skizz - "Mr. Collabo"

Queen's emcee Nutso (formerly Nut-Rageous) are responsible for several dope records; mainly his record with Freestyle Professor's Branesparker, and his rare 2xLP solo album "Rawnuts (The Best Of Nut-Rageous)". He was also recently featured with a monster verse on the memorable posse cut,. "Galaxy Of Queens", with CNN, Royal Flush and Tragedy Khadafi.

DJ Skizz is a Queens based DJ/producer/Haftime Radio Show co-host, who I first encountered on his excellent mixtape "Kings From Queens" some three months ago. Not these two artists have cooked up a free fourteen tracks mixtape/albm that, although I haven't had the time to listen to yet, clearly sounds GREAT on paper. Guests on "Mr. Collabo" include Blaq Poet, Ruste Juxx, Red Eye, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Dom Pachino, Sadat X, Punchline, Kool G Rap & Necro and many more. Do yourself a favor and make sure you check this out!1
