[Album] SOULPETE - "Soul Raw"

My man James Dunn sent me over a promo for Poland based producer Soulpete's debut album "Soul Raw" that has just dropped, and it's absolutely rocking. Soulpete's production packs a heavy punch of East Coast boom bap influences with thumping beats, turntable wizardry, a touch of jazz samples, and a heavy guest list. Emcees spitting over these banging backdrops include Guilty Simpson (see video above), Oddisee, Smif-N-Wessun, Pacewon, Supastition, Journalist 103, Blu, Hezekiah (check the video for "Dead Or Alive"), and more. You can stream the entire album below, but be sure to support "Soul Raw" in your choice of CD, HQ digital or 2xLP vinyl @ Bandcamp.

[Album] ANALOGIC - "The Booth Shall Set You Free"

Considering the love the Elementality crew get up on here it should come as no suprise to anyone that I'm a big fan of one of their main producers Analogic's musical output which includes beats for MadKem, Silent Knight, and many more. Now he's stepping into the limelight as an artist in his own right, releasing "The Booth Shall Set You Free", entirely produced by Analogic and featuring collaborations with Wordsworth, Silent Knight, Sean Boog, Evidence & Rakaa of Dilated, Jered Sanders, Justin Bates, Supastition, Hasaan Mackey, and many more. Definitely worth a listen (or plenty of them) as EMP has put up the entire album for free stream although it's really released on SoulSpazm Records (another label that has proven their capability to find and support great underground hip-hop these last couple of years). It seems it's a strictly digital release though as I can't find any info on a physical release from the usual sites, but you can purchase the project from iTunes. ENJOY!!

[EP] KEV BROWN Presents EARLY REED & J SCIENIDE - "The Dose"

Kev Brown is not only a super talented producer, but he got a real knack for finding and supporting fresh talent. In 2012 Brown's Low Budget Records released the terrific debut LP from Quartermaine, and now comes an equally stunning project from the label in the form of Early Reed's "The Dose (The MFN Files)". A 7 tracks deep journey into the art of well crafted beats, on point rhymes, turntable magic, headnodding and a whole lot of soul that is not to be missed. Entirely produced by Washington/DC veteran Early Reed whose jazzy blend of soul and boom bap is a real treat for the ears with captivating vocals expertly handled by J Scienide this little Extended Play is simply superb on all levels. Guest apperances comes from Kev Brown, Hasaan Mackey, Supastition and DJ Jon Doe. Initially released back in December it is only available as a digital download (for $5) so be sure to support these guys and lets hope for an eventual vinyl release!

Supastition & Stoupe are VESTIGE

Since Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind left Jedi Mind Tricks to focus on various solo projects and all kinds of collaborations, a lot of fat music has materialized. His solo album "Decalouge" featured some really intense collabos with M.O.P., Saigon, Reef The Lost Cauze, Joell Ortiz, and of course Supastition who's now will hanle all the rhyming on a forthcoming Stoupe LP. I was also a big fan of his team-up with singer Liz Fullerton as DUTCH which was a really good album.

The LP with Supastition is titlted "The Inanimate Life" and is set for a release sometime this summer; ""The Inanimate Life" which documents the fictional life story of a man born to an unfit mother and how his life spirals out of control due to her actions, as well as his own mistakes. The story and lyrics were written by Supastition with Stoupe and his production team (Bad Tape) handling the music which meshes together hip hop, downtempo, and live instrumentation." Sounds like a keeper, that's for sure.,.. Stay tuned for more info and the first single.
