This is an incredibly slept on high-profile jazz / hip-hop fusion record from 1995; starring underground emcee veteran Uptown and sax vituoso Branford Marsalis who gets down as Buckshot LeFonque. This song appeared on the slamming sountrack for "Clockers", which happens to be one of my absolute favorite flicks from the genius that is Spike Lee; and which OST of course also provided the home to the immortal "Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers" and some other banging '90s hip-hop and R&B cuts.
This was recorded between the classic debut album with DJ Premier and 1997:s dope, but inferior "Music Evolution" and the sound represents just that. It's a very interesting record to say the least, especially for anyone that, like myself, strives to hear everything in Uptown's small but powerful discography. Marsalis really went IN on his extended solo here as well. This is for anyone who likes "Evolution Of The Groove" series. Enjoy, and TURN IT UP!!
